Just got back from Mexico. I'm in Yuma for a week visiting my parents and my dad and I went to Los Algodones just over the border to do some shopping and drinking.

Stopped by a leather goods shop and spied some Western rigs that were really high quality.

All handmade, hand tooled, and really good quality. I have always wanted one for my Cimarron Arms 1873 Peacemaker, but it seemed like when I looked for them, nice ones were pretty spendy.

The guy wanted $150 for this one. But being Mexico, I dickered with him for a few minutes and got it and a thick leather belt for $100.

I haven't looked up prices for them yet, but I think I did Ok.

I didn't really NEED it, but I will use it when riding horses in the summer.

I think you did okay too. Looks like a holster a buddy of mine picked up at a gun show some years back. He wanted something to carry his Ruger Super Blackhawk in when he was out walking around on his property. He found a similar rig like yours and it was also made in Mexico and probably cost him something like $70 to $80 at the time.

Finally got back home and test fitted the holster. The Colt clone fits well, but the barrel is too long. The Ruger is a bit too fat. Looks like I need to get another Uberti with a shorter barrel. Darn... LOL.

I have a holster from Mexico and it is one of my favorites, however with Mexican leather goods I'd want to know what the leather smells like when wet. Just sayin'

Organic wastes -- animal and human both -- have been traditionally used in tanning leather in some parts of Morocco and Mexico as they contain enzymes that help make the leather softer. So when these leather products get wet, they smell like... waste products. As in, "Hey, who stepped in the horse s**t?"

I can remember in Mexico a leather dealer trying to get me from a competitors wares. He told me the other guy used chicken leather:rofl:

Stretchy.

This made me laugh so hard, I think I've got a little cabin fever though. The whiskey probably helped too...
