Goodbye Sig

Sig makes some good (possible overpriced however) stuff.

I never thought the GSR was good stuff though. Too many other nice 1911's to choose from.

I've had good luck with Sigs. I've owned a brand new P-220 and a LE trade-in P-220, both were great. My current Sig is a P-226 9mm that was also a police trade-in. I like the ex-LE guns because they were cared for by armorers (hence no bugs) and usually show only holster wear, for a cheap price out the door.

And I'm a die-hard S&W fan, but just sold my lemon of a M&P 9c. That thing broke the tool for securing the grip insert and flicking the stupid lever in the mag well when taking down-what a pain that was! Cheap plastic thing-worthless-Hey, S&W...make it metal! The magazine release button also would stick, allowing the mag to fall free at inopportune times until I figured what the problem was. Never should have left the factory with a bad mag release.

I use a S&W 686 Plus snubby for daily carry and like it very much, even though it's one of the latest types with the lock. The trigger pull rivals those on my classic S&W revolvers. So I guess now that I've sorted my lemons, I'm pretty happy with my current crop of guns.

well, look, it sucks that you got a lemon, but don't let one gun alter your opinion of SIG. I know this isn't necessarily indicative of the OP, but I have never understood why people get so worked up over a bad experience and start proclaiming that they will never by such-and-such brand again. Guns are mechanical, mechanical things sometimes break. Every company will turn out a lemon here and there, and that's a fact. I bet if you were to look hard enough, you could probably find someone that was unhappy with a Wilson or a Baer, even. Like, I have eaten a bad steak but that doesn't mean that I get on the internet and start screaming that I will never eat steak again.

Deal with the customer service, see how they treat you, move on.

I can totally understand the frustration, though I might give the dealer a little more of the blame. Were I the shop owner, I'd be on the phone every day with Sig until my customer got what they paid for: a fully functioning firearm.

Getting a lemon is irritating but forgivable as long as the company rectifies it quickly and offers an apology. However, many companies seem to view warranty issues as a nuisance rather than an opportunity to win over a customer for life. For any manufacturers out there, all it takes is:

a) a sincere apology
b) quick repair or replacement
c) a freebie or two to compensate for the inconvenience

I had a bad experience with a new Ruger purchase last year. Waiting 3+ months for my firarm to come back in working order made me not want another Ruger just out of spite.

Well a buddy of mine decided today that he is going to ditch his Sig P250 that he bought about a month ago. He has had nothing but problems with it and he has lost all faith in it. Today we went out shooting and it was just jam after jam after jam until he finally gave up on it. He's been having problems since day one especially with Magtech ammo but been hoping the problem would work itself out so he hasn't returned the gun yet. At first he thought about sending it back to Sig but now he just wants rid of it, he's basically lost all faith in it as a self defense gun and now wants something more reliable. It could be just an ammo problem but having so many ftf's has pushed him to the point where he's just lost confidence in the gun. So he's going to try and see if the shop will do anything or he'll just put the gun up for sale.

On a plus note I got to put about a hundred rounds through my PS90 today and I have to say I am completely in love:eek: I had one of those "where have you been all my life" moments. Now I just have to wait for m bulk shipment of 5.7 to arrive so I can really start having fun with it:D

Odd that both firearms using Magtech ammo have problems.

He can send it back to Sig for their service asd hopefully correction or take a beating on a tradein. The dealer isn't going to eat the lose. It sounds like he just doesn't like the handgun and wants to trade out.

Poor ammo isn't going to make another brand more reliable.

Sorry to hear of your problems. That can happen. It shouldn't, but it does. I wouldn't throw SIG out of the running for future choices. Many, many others have had nothing but good experiences with SIG. I've been shooting SIGs for 25 years (226 9mm, 220E, 220A, 230, 232, 239, 2340, 226 .357 SIG, P6, GSR Revolution) and have shot thousands of rounds through them without a single malfunction, that is until a week ago. There was a defective follower on a 226 .357 mag and the gun wouldn't lock open after the last shot. SIG quickly sent a new follower and the mag is now 100%.

Based on my experiences SIGs are worth every penny, and more, and are one of the real standout gun manufacturers.

It would be interesting to see what Glock would do if they ever decided to do a 1911.

I wouldn't buy a 1911.They're overated in the name of god,guts,
country and mom's apple pie.You can spend thousands on them
and they still jam.I bought a beautiful CZECH CZ 97B with a gloss finish for about $550 and it functions flawlessly. The guy in the lane next to me had a 1911 that he'd spent a kings ransom on and it jammed repeatedly. You can call me a communist but mine works!

You're entitled to your opinion, but dismissing a weapon that has been around for almost a century and is STILL being used by some of the worlds most elite police agencies and militaries just because there are a few lemons out there, doesn't really lend weight to your argument that they are "overrated".

I noticed that all two of matt drucker's posts have been used to bash 1911s and promote his 97b. What's up with that, Mr. Drucker?

Greetings,

I noticed polarized opinions are made by the igoramus sapiens...:D

I was not attracted to 1911s until I tried one. Then I saw and felt how much of a nice design it is.:what:

Thank you

Just my opinion, if the 1911's weren't so BEAUTIFUL, they would not be near as popular. I do think they are very picky guns, get a good one out of the box and it is ur friend for life, get one you have to . course I guess we could say that about all guns to.

(I'll never buy a SIG. I always thought they were overpriced anyway. Why buy a SIG, when you can buy a comparable Glock for less money?)

I say:
Why but a Glock when you can have an XD for less money? :neener:

It may not be a 1911 but they do come in .45 acp. Who wants that old 1911 technology anyway?
:neener:

Now that I started that ruckus I think I'll slip quietly away.
:D
