Gunbroker strikes again

Disclaimer, I try to be as frugal as possible and look for the best price/deals I can and don't like to pay full or average prices for things. With that said I have been browsing gunbroker looking for new pistols that I have been wanting for a while. I managed to snag a cz SP01 and a new m&p 2.0 earlier this year both at really good prices.

Well since those two purchases I have been actively looking and bidding on for a shield 2.0 or a glock 43 and have been looking at getting a 22 pistol so have been bidding on ruger mk 4's and s&w victories. Been striking out left and right. I have lost over 100 auctions over the past few weeks because I set my max price and then leave it alone, if I win great, if I don't then oh well.

When I was doing my filtering for one of my daily searches, I selected ruger as the manufacturer and let the page reset, then I sorted by lowest price and was planning on selecting 22LR for the caliber when I saw a no reserve Lightweight Commander Talo edition SR1911 with no bids, so I said why not and set a really low max bid and kind of forgot about it. I wasn't really searching for this one or even in the market, it just caught my eye.

The other morning I woke up and saw that I had an email saying I won an auction. I figured woohoo I finally got one of the four models that I have been actively bidding on for the past few weeks and opened it up to see that I did in fact win the one gun that I was not truly serious about buying. Now the pistol is on it's way here and hopefully I will have it by Friday.

It has only happened to me once. But it’s like winning $100 on a scratch off ticket, it just fuels my desire to bid and win. My max bid is always absurdly low though. Usually $10 or $20 unless I’m really serious about buying something.

The same thing happened to me. I put a low ball bid on a 20 gauge Cynergy Sporting and unexpectedly won. It’s fun, but I can’t afford too many more “bargains”.

I've become a fan of the M&P 2.0's. Over the past 2 months I threw out low bids for the 2.0 Shield 9mm and the full size 2.0 45 and won both. The deals are there if you're willing to be patient.

Hopefully for a while, in the mean time I've bought a number of guns lately at prices I couldn't turn down, such as a like new Glock 21 for around $250 (the exact price escapes me). It had no magazines, so with the magazines I bought for it, it still came in under $300.

Patience is a virtue. I am as cheap as they come. I get some really good deals, but it takes time, often months.

I won the bid a rifle at a good price and then come to find out the dealer didn't have it in stock. He drop ships and the distributor which is in the same town was out. He was a great guy so I gave him a pass. He did help me to find what I wanted from someone else for the same good price. Sometimes you have to keep an open mind.

Last November I was out of the country in Australia and did a low bid (on the low end of reasonable) on a Marlin Camp 9. Never expecting to win. They have been holding their value pretty good. And low and behold I won. The seller was nice and agreed to ship it when I got back. I paid day after and he shipped a couple weeks later when I was back in the US.

my favorites are the misspelled auctions you sometimes run across, I found an ortgies being sold as an orgies. those kinda auctions tend to go really cheap.

I thought I was the only one who noticed this.There is a window of opportunity right now we will look back on and say,”hey remember 9mm was $10 dollars or less a box and 22 lr.was for sale everywhere and any time you wanted some.
I know where you can buy a 500 round brick of Winchester wildcat or CCI Blazer of 22lr.for 18.99 and free first time buyers shipping.

I had the same thing happen. I put in a $260 bid for a NIB CZ-85B a few years ago, and completely forgot about it. Got the email saying I had won it.

Keep your eye out for S&W Model 10 ads...you never know when there will be an old Heavy Duty or Outdoorsman for sale.

I am primarily interested in BP C&B replica pistols, and have found that most sellers on GB do not have much of a clue about what they have for auction, and are very proud of their wares.

I hope it is different with cartridge guns for the rest of you folks. I, for one, am done with GB.

A friend was searching an auction site and just by chance found an Anschutz 54:18 Metallic Silhouette model where it was spelled Anschultz. It didn't turn up on a search for Anschutz because of the misspelling and as he was the only bidder he won. Paid a $1,000 for it and at that time the rifle alone was worth $1,800 but this one also had a quality scope on it. He sold the stock and scope for what he paid for the rifle. He was looking for an action to use to build a sporter rifle for IR 50/50 benchrest matches.
