I'd like to see a couple of decent revolvers in 9mm Luger. Maybe a 3" k-frame with fixed sights and bobbed hammer, 4" k-frame stainless with heavy barrel and adjustable sights. No snubguns - but real "kit gun" configurations.
As long as I'm wishing, a Marlin Camp .40, a relatively inexpensive (like Savage) bolt action in 7.62 x 39, downsized like the Mini Mauser, and a couple of other "truck guns" in carbine config like the old Spanish Destroyer, but with real steel, so you could load hot 9x23. A similar boltgun in .45acp that takes M1911 mags.
The plasma rifle still sounds like a good idea, like the BFG9000 in the game Doom (remember)? Could I get that in a handgun though?
A couple of 1911 variants in stainless, back in *regular* production, in, say, 10mm with a .40 switch kit, and a 9x23 with a 9x19 switch kit.
A downsized '92 carbine in .32 mag (with good iron sights) for my kids... and a Stevens Crackshot lookalike, same caliber.
I'll think of more, but that's a start anyhow. Sorry I rambled a little off the original handgun question, but I see other folks went down the same path. I saw a lot of good ideas, and I do hope manufacturers are watching.... including the idea to take the redundant locks back out of the design. I don't buy those - still plenty of "pre-stupid" iron to be found on the used market.
