As I type I am not exactly sure what this even is. Could be some post war Semi auto version of an MG42. A friend inherited a bunch of guns. I have not known her long but I met her in a pawn shop where she was trying to sell a DWM Luger. The shop was low-balling her and I told the shop if they bought it I would be interested. I told her if the shop did not buy it I would be interested. She called me and that is how we met up. I say friend but its more of an acquaintance. She said she had a bunch of guns she inherited and since the Pawn shop did not know much about the luger and I new a bit she decided to work with me. I told he if we can not come up with prices we agree on I will at least help her for free. So she sent me these photos. The SKS she said was a get this. Mk4 Enfield. From the photo the best I can say is it looks to be a Chicom SKS. I can not ID it until I have it in hand. For a second the not detailed photo and the front barrel guard looked like an SVT. But it was too short and the rest looks like an SKS not an SVT. The second picture she sent made my heart jump a beat. I can not tell but it sure looks like an MG42. I once had all the parts minus the receiver for a 34. I don't know if its some country's knock off of a 42 or an original 42 or some modern semi version.

I am not exactly sure how to adviser her. At worst I told her I could strip down the parts so its a bare receiver and we can turn the receiver into the local police to have it destroyed. The parts are worth a fair amount if original German issue. I may be interested in getting a dummy receiver and making a display piece. She has a Negant revolver that I am not interested in unless I can sell it for her on that one. But she says she has a bunch more and they have been sitting in a closet for many years. All the original owners she said are dead. It happens. I hear of this all the time. Grandpa passes and he has a Thompson in the closet. Thanks for any advice. 713483679.jpg 713483710.jpg

The first pic is a Bubba'd SKS. Interesting that they replaced the wood upper handguard and used it as a cheek riser...that's a new one on me.

The second pic looks like one of the kits that used to be available to turn a 10/22 into a Faux-42.

edit to add: Notice the 10/22 looking bolt handle and the 10/22-sized magazine well...

Nothing good can come of this. I would steer clear of the situation. I see lots of downsides and very little upside (for you).

Thanks. I was wondering why the charging handle was not the big one on MGs. I thought maybe it was missing. That is actually a relief.

It was Indeed a Ruger 1022 in the Cherokee kit. I have no idea what value is on it. The SKS is also what you guys said. The cheek rest is a front gas tube with the tube removed and screwed to the stock. Not sure of the value.
