I'm not looking into this like it's some sort of coronation that .30 Super is a thing, Hi Point has a successful rifle and pistol platform that they use to chamber a lot of less popular calibers in and they figure there might be a decent enough potential customer base for this caliber.

I don't expect .30 will ever beat the 9mm in ammo price, but if it ever matched it or was only a buck more a box, I would seriously consider owning one.

Ok, you made me go to their site, I'll be gone a bit to bathe in hand sanitizer. However, even Hi Point, doesn't look like they will be getting into SC.

Sorry, hard to type with sanitizer in my eyes.............

I think this round is dead...........

The more platforms out there chambered in the .30SC the better. I am hoping for a high-capacity G19-sized carry pistol in .30SC some day.
As William Cowper said, "Variety is the spice of life." A 20+1 G19 would be fun.

You couldn’t fit 20 rounds of .30 into the G19 without an extended magazine. You’d be looking more at the Glock 17 frame for that.

I love my Uber fugly Hi-Point carbine in 45 ACP! Not enough to buy a Hi-Point pistol but…

I must say that have as little interest in 30 SC as I do in 30 Luger, but I hope Hi-Point makes plenty of money selling PCCs in 30 SC to those who want them.

20 rounds of 30SC will definitely fit into a G19 magazine with a slight change to the feed lips and also a slight change to the follower. I know this because I test fitted 30SC into an OEM G19 magazine and was able to fit 19 rounds into it without any modifications.

You probably could if it was like one of the Shield Arms all metal magazines that hold 15 rds in the Glock 43x and 48.

Hi-Point is incredibly stupid to only offer these guns with 10 round magazines.
They want to be able to sell them in all 50 states. Once the Supreme Court throws out magazine capacity laws Hi Point is going to have to make higher capacity carbines or people will not buy them.

That said, I don't see why Hi Point can't do what everyone else does buy making full capacity mags and 10 rd magazines that can interchange.

10rd is a letdown. It's also mainly to it being a single stack, which is what all they do because it's easier to be reliable. Probably have to get an aftermarket promag drum to get a 30rd mag

The downside to Hi Point carbines has always been the 10 round magazines. I can partly understand the reason since some states are restricted to 10 rounds. But the rest of us want higher capacity. There is no reason why Hi Point can't open up the grip to fit double stack magazines.

When magazine capacities can't be restricted by states on a whim and it's no longer a concern, I expect Hi Point will release a series of new carbines that probably use popular mag patterns like Glock, Beretta, Sig, etc.

That's not for another 5 years tho.

They are popular here, cheap, effective enough on pigs and sometimes sheep/goats/deer, shoot cheap ammo, and are nearly impossible to break. Any rifle taking a magazine a pistol can use is limited to 10 also.

I definitely will never knock someone for wanting a Hi Point carbine. The carbines are ugly and heavy with limited capacity but they always work, are pretty accurate, and Hi Point has one of the best warranties in the business if you should ever need it. I own a 4095 and have never had any issues with it.

If only Hi Point or an aftermarket company would just make the carbines have the ability to take double stack magazines then I would definitely look into buying another Hi Point Carbine.

Were we supposed to think the 30 SC would ever become the most popular handgun cartridge in the world?

It’s just another option among many. Market leaders will stay market leaders for all of the reasons which made them market leaders, but there’s plenty of room for alternative options.

Since I live in the Peoples Republik, there are no guns for sale in .30 Super Carry. :( I can honestly say I don’t think there is even a box of .30 Super Carry on a LGS shelf here. (I did see almost a case of it on the shelf at Sportsman’s Warehouse in Carson City, Nv at thanksgiving.)

I hope the .30 SC round succeeds, and the Ca DOJ roster gets tossed out, as having options is what makes being an American great!

Stay safe.

I wonder if a big part of the .40 S&W success was the federal AWB that came out shortly after the .40 S&W was released. With that said, currently the only gun on the market that I'm aware of that shoots the 30 SC is the Shield EZ, which bumps up the capacity from 8 to 10. Unless California has gotten worse, I do believe that this is a gun where the capacity benefits can be realized even in CA.

"Hey there's this new round that can fit 25% more into a magazine!"

"Cool, let's make a new gun and make use of 0% of that."
When nobody else is making a carbine in .30 Super you can get away with that.

Until someone actually does make a carbine that uses higer capacity magazines.

It could be with 10 shots, if it was on the ok list. :(

Not on the DOJ list, so one can’t be sold. (This is why I want the list declared unconstitutional!)

Stay safe.
