Hiding the heavyweights

Yeah, don't feel bad. I kept my dad's Honda Hybrid after he died, it gets 45mpg on some days, and I feel quite invisible driving it. Unlike some of the other things I drive and ride. Dang...both my street bikes only get 42mpg. !!! And no heater, AC, radio, cup holders, or windows!! :what:
if you seen me in Seattle, you think… definitely a hippie. Just remember the other rule of not getting into a gun fight. DON’T get in a gun fight.

When I carry a 4" Security Six its in a horizontal shoulder holster. Its only on certain occasions though.

Yep, I do have/carry a 3" (3.25"? I forget) a Security Six sometimes, in a nice well made Italian off-brand holster, OWB strong side. Kind of a "clamshell" deal with elastic (?) closing the shell. Fast and comfortable as it sits high like a Bianchi "Black Widow" holster. "Comforting" to have that .357 power sometimes.

Exactly my man. I don't do road-rage, no matter what (you can't fix stupid by yelling at it or flipping it off, or being equally stupid) and if I found myself in a robbery in progress, as long as I don't think anyone is going to get hurt, I'm sure not going to shoot anyone to save a store or gas-station some chump-change, or appoint myself Mr. Policeman. !! However, if it can't be avoided, be up on your skills and practice. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.

It’s been a safe queen with only something like 200 rounds through it. I have a Kramer OWB belt scabbard for it and I can conceal it with a coat and barely with a vest. I called Kramer to inquire about a shoulder rig for it ( they don’t make one). She suggested their Tomas perfectionist IWB holster. It rides very high with a deep forward cant. Very interesting. I want to carry this thing more and this rig is very promising. Anyone ever had one or any input?

Nice leather.

I used to use some various IWB leather rigs for Ruger Security/Service-Sixes, S&W K/L/N frames and a Redhawk. As long as the bulk was riding just behind the top of the hip bone (iliac crest), in the meat of the glute, it seemed fine. Of course, many years of doing that, combined with wearing uniform gun belts, created some annoying 'hot spots' behind my hip bone and in my glutes. Tightly cinched belts and IWB holsters took a toll over the years. Nowadays even OWB holsters riding over those spots can light up them up and aggravate them after anywhere from 1-3 days of wear.

I use an old Kramer Thomas Perfectionist for my 1911 Government (5") models (and for Commander sizes at times) and find that even after all day carry I'm comfortable.

That all said the IWB are going to be warmer months affair/deep concealment. The OWB setups will be cooler weather with flannel or something

Truth, although my Charter Arms Bulldog in a Bianchi Black Widow is my favorite summer rig. But, it's certainly not a heavy weight. And, that's my "light duty" rig if I'm just going into town. Going to the city I bring more fire power. My Tokarv and CZ52 both conceal well IWB and are more summer guns. Ha try finding big name-brand holsters for those two pistols.

For sure, spring fall and winter I move to the 1911A1, or Taurus PT92CS. In the dead of winter I like to pack this: (you've seen it before, but I just know you want to feast your eyes on it again!)

Would that work on my lifted 4x4?
Or would "they" get suspicious?
I'm just glad I don't have to worry about that stuff here!

Probably not....no one has called me "Hippie" yet when driving my Power Wagon. Especially if I hang a double-bladed axe on my rifle rack. License plate frame on the front says: "your car is my crumple zone". Been planning to have a transfer made, mirror image, for my windshield, that says: "Brake Checks Welcome":evil::evil::evil::evil::evil:

No, I'm a "build-it-yourself-guy". (the Power Wagon might look like a beater, but she's got fresh well tuned engine, fresh tranny, and nothing wrong with the running gear...she's good to go.) (well...my rear pinion seal leads a bit) I'd rather spend the $$$ on tools and parts, then hand it over to the bank. I firmly believe in driving around others, as you would want them to drive around you. Won't see me tail-gating or being rude-on-the-road. Someone rude to me, cuts me off? I drop back and let them go, and laugh, knowing sooner or later they will crash, or get into a road rage with someone that they will sincerely regret. There are maniacs out there! :) Me, I don't sweat the small stuff. It don't mean nothing.

Hey, I'd be happy to have a conversation about my rusty $5000 truck. And I wouldn't trade it for a brand new one either!
Old faithful, it is.

I had a 2004 F150.. had 218,000 miles on it when I bought it. $4,000 in 2015. Was so easy to work on. And it would not die, solid transmission and rear end. 4 years & 50,000 miles later (10,000 miles pulling a 8,000# trailer) sold it for $3,500! wish I still had it, but my cousin needed it, then he gave it to his dad! I guess it’s still in the family

Having a short barrel sure helps with the thick ones because a high riding OWB is all I have personally found that works well with a 242 or 327 PC, and these aren’t even heavy. It’s just the size.
