I'm always reading about NY reloads, and BUG's. People advocate carrying a second gun quite often, but I wonder exactly how many people really carry more than one gun on their person at all times.

So, I posted up this little poll to see how many of you guys REALLY walk it like a lot of you talk it. :D If you CCW, and carry more than one handgun on a daily basis, please tell us what you carry and where/how.

Me?

I carry one gun at a time - a Sig P220 OWB or a Sig Pro 2340 IWB/OWB. I also have a bellyband for both, but only carry one at a time. I carry 2 reloads whenever I'm carrying an auto. 22 rounds of .45ACP with the P220, and 37 rounds of .357SIG when I have the SP2340. I've carried every gun I own at one time or another, but never more than one at a time.

90 days 'til the poll closes. Let's hear it!

Often, not always, I carry an AMT .380 Backup in my left hip pocket or the inside left breast pocket of my vest or jacket to go with the Taurus 450 on my left ankle.

I have a P32 wallet that I tend to forget I have in my pocket when I grab the nine & carry MOB. I carry, but if I'm going somewhere I actually feel like I may need two, maybe I should reconsider the trip????

If you're going somewhere you feel like you actually might need two guns, bring three.;)

Airweight J Frame or Beretta Tomcat in right front pocket, in addition to primary piece.

I RARELY carry more than just one gun. I can count on one hand how many times I have carried a bug.

I also do not carry a reload...

If I can manage a cover for my SW1911, I can still carry the default snubbie in the front pocket.

You need an option for those who sometimes carry two, or more guns.

I only have one snub, with no reload, on now, but I am close to another loaded snub, and a 12 gauge shotgun with buckshot shells in a butt cuff. If I go outside I will, most likely, be carrying two snubnoses and three speedstrips with six rounds in each.

I have experimented with carrying three guns, but need better leather, and a longer coat, to pull it off regularly. (On those occasions I carried a BHP and the two snubs, one extra mag for the BHP and the speedstrips.)

I normally carry two of a similar platform, SIG P226 and P228. Other times 2 P220's, etc. I also rotate in a SW642 pending the occasion. A Mossberg 590 is 90% of the time within easy reach as well loaded with 7 slugs with 25 spare close at hand.

I do...

"I carry 2 or more backup guns"

Sometimes, everyday, occasionally, etc. - doesn't matter. If you carry 3 guns or more on occasion, then check that option and tell us about it. :)

There should have been an option for one handgun, no reload. I keep a BUG and an extra mag for my primary ccw in the glove box, but I only wear one with no extra mags.

I carry two and I think for good reason. One is for the weak hand. Also I believe the revolver has the advantage at contact distance while the autoloader has its own advantages.

BUGs and spares

When I began carrying in the Navy in 1967 I was perfectly content to have a J Frame Smith and 1 reload. I "grew up" a lot since then. My CCWs are a Glock 27 and an AMT DAO Backup in .45acp. I discovered that often brother officers all carried different weapons and in various calibers and a maxim of shooting situations is that somebody is going to run out of ammo...and I don't want it to be me. When I carry the Glock I carry 2 mags. When I carry the AMT, with its 5 round mags, I usually have 6 spares stashed on my person. I'm retired from LE now...have been for 11 years. If I were carrying for duty There would be something small stashed for unforeseeable events.:D

It is no longer legal to carry more than one concealed weapon in New Mexico. One of the "fixes" that we received courtesy of our legislature when they modified our CCW.:banghead:

No, but I'm considering it, more for access issues than firepower. I really like the IWB appendix carry being touted on places like totalprotectioninetractive.com. Seems like a much, MUCH faster to get something in play than carrying at 4:00, especially if you're being physically attacked.

The problem is, it's pretty uncomfortable (for me) to carry anything other than a snub or small auto there. Maybe in that case the BUG almost become th primary that you can get in your hand immediately, while a more substantial piece is on the hip for when you can access it.

BUGs and spares

Mk 11; I don't know if you can still find them...but, I have a Safariland IWB holster. It's soft grey leather and our issue weapons at work were Sig P-229s.
Worked like a charm.

1 is never enough :p
but it's all that's practical if you're skinny, busy and active. concealing a compact auto is about all i can handle, if i threw another holster on my ankle or something i'd inevitably uncover sooner or later while i'm running around all day.

If you are ever in a shooting you will likely think of all the mistakes made and the could haves and would haves. I also think the situation changes your thinking. 10 people can be involved in a shooting and if they were very different they all might want to change things differently. Things do not always go as expected.

I wish I had had a backup and a Surefire. At first my backup was strong hand. Then I realized that doing a weak hand draw and handing over to the strong hand was still faster than a reload. After that I also considered strong hand trapping and injury. If someone were to attack you that might attack your gun hand. Also when fireing from cover the head and the hands are exposed. Also you might be stuck where you are using one hand for balance or for some other reason when the firearm is needed. I now firmly believe in the back up and now I think it is more versitile if it is available for a weakhand draw.

I think one is enough. I agree with if I know I need two or more its going to be a long day.
Sometimes I think a shotgun, rifle ,two pistols ,knife in every pocket ,hand gernades and bullet proof vest is good !!!!! :neener:

Really I can see where a backup would or could be needed. I have just not done it
