I was at the range today with my Glock 17 RTF2. I was loading some magazines and I had a guy walk up to me and say "that is the ugliest gun I have ever seen, what the heck is it". I explained to him what is was and said I don't care about looks I care about function. We talked off and on for a while. I told him the thing feels like it is super glued to your hand when you shoot it. He was shooting a Sig P226. I told him his gun was one on my list. He offered to let me shoot it. We traded guns for a few targets. I really liked the Sig but I like the feel of my Glock better. It was neat to trade guns with a guy twice my age. I still want to get a sig but I am really happy with what I bought. Here is a pic of my glock, I think it is cool looking, but what the heck do I know.:D. Is it really that ugly?

I would like glocks fine if they didnt have such horrible spongy triggers..

They have their purpose sure...but they are a little over simplified/missing features for my tastes. I prefer the option of having a single action trigger pull...plain and simple. Id take a 1911, sig, beretta, Second Gen S&W, or CZ 75/85 over a glock ANY TIME just for the fact of having the single action trigger available to me. I prefer one with a de-cocker and the absence of a manual saftey so thats why Sig and CZ decocker models are my fav.

Now..having said that...

I REALLY thought this was a Hi-point thread from the title. :neener:

Sorry , i know many like them but id rather stick a barrel on a piece of tupperware and call it a gun then own a hi-point..on wait..thats basically what they did! lol (all in good fun).

Yes, it is an ugly gun. Yet strangely, I find myself wanting the exact Glock that you have, the RTF2 Glock 17. I can't explain what the attraction is. It's everything I hate in a gun: no hammer, plastic, a grip sized for king-kong, and it being D/A only. It goes against everything God intended a gun to be. :uhoh:

Oh, and no, it's not as ugly as a Hi Point. ;)

Great post. Nice thing about Glocks is you can short reset them. After the first shot the trigger resets in a short distance. Makes the gun essentialy a DA/SA.

Although who cares what it looks like if it works.
spoke like the guy who dates the ugliest girl at work

And don't forget glocks have good personalities:)))

Yeah, and the pretty guns always like to hang out with the Glock so they look hotter in comparison. :D

I stopped calling Glocks ugly when I started shooting them.

Now my pretty 1911's are starting to look fugly to me. It's hard to dislike the gun that makes you shoot better, no matter what that is for you.

PS: Sig isn't what it used to be, unfortunately.

I used to really hate their design, mainly the grip was never comfortable to me. Then a buddy bought one and let me try it out (G19 i think) and man was it a nice gun to shoot. They're slowly growing on me for aesthetics.

I think glocks are quite handsome, especially with the rtf2's slide serrations.

Wow6599, you can't fool me I know that's a cordless drill. :D

You think your glock is ugly? Take a gander at this heaping pile of ugly, Merry Christmas!

My wallet doesn't think they're ugly.. this was about $560 after taxes (G22) and delivery (laser/light) and all brand new this week. I know a 226 could never do that.
