I Tore My Gunrange Membership Card

I liked to go there and the one on OBT to rent guns and try out different types and calibers. They stopped renting guns entirely because of these incidents though. So I dont know if I will be going back. Most of the fun was shooting different guns when I can't afford to buy them.

Joining a club will not necessarily protect you from the nutballs. Sometimes the nutballs run the clubs, don't ask me how I know.

I Tore My Gunrange Membership Card the staff there are all nice and friendly, however, I am more concerned about the clients/people coming in there.
I don't really understand your concern. These were unrelated tragic deaths of a very personal nature and did not involve strangers. Do you not feel safe?

Sorry, but I find your response illogical. It's one thing to feel spooked in those lanes, but it makes zero sense to blame the store staff.

Yes it's true, those are very personal and may not affect me and other people directly. However, it's like comparing living in a nice suburbs where you can jog or walk around the subdivision with your neighbors tending their gardens greeting you "hello, hi, how are yous", than living in a ghetto place where ordinary cursing, shouting, loud music, gangs hanging around the block, etc. is a picture of an ordinary day.

For me, going to the gunrange is to have fun. I like target shooting and it gives me a feeling of my childhood years playing with my friends being cowboys and indians. That's why I like to see nice people beside me, parents teaching their kids handling guns, wives and girlfriends trying out their new guns and just having the time of their lives. I think I wouldn't want to be near somebody blowing their heads off beside me.

Sir, please read again my first and second post. I don't blame the staff and the place. In fact, I really like them a lot and got a lot of friends there. They know me there. However, you got the right word, I am "spooked" to those lanes now.

A suicide could happen at ANY range. You seem to believe this particular range attracts these people therefore you are blaming the range. Did you ever think that it was just chance that they had two incidents in 3 weeks?

Re-evaluate your own emotion reaction, and ask yourself why you feel the way you do. Ask yourself if your feelings are reasonable and grounded in reality, or if your fears are statistically unrealistic.

I don't think I've ever heard of anyone killed by stray gunfire from an attempted suicidee at a range. It may have happened once, somewhere, sometime, but it's certainly way, way, way, way, way, way less probable than getting clipped by some dumbass doing Mach 12 on I-4 while driving over to the range.

I've never visited this range but the ranges by me cater to a ghetto crowd. It's not my cup of tea to watch people point guns around. I go to the range to relax and release, join a range that isn't full of idiots off the street.

It is not the "Segway Surfer's" fault. I used to shoot there 20 years ago before Shoot Straight bought it. Closest range to work. It was so great going there at lunch time with the guys and blow off a little steam. But it was brutal in the summer - hatter than hell, and you could not shoot any of the cool target like cans or plastic jugs of water - strictly paper. But it was all I knew about at the time. I was just starting out and only had a Colt 1911.

I agree with the others - join SCGAA or one of the others outdoor ranges. SCGAA has a public day the first Sunday of every month. You can take the 'course" required for membership at that time. Good folks. Once you go to an outdoor range, you won't want to every go back to an indoor range again. The only exception, at least for me, is one of those shoot houses used for tactical training.

I have always been a member of a Rod and Gun Club. You take their required training course, learn all the rules up front and enjoy the sport of shooting without the mall ninja types and scumbags. Rather costly up front but well worth it in the long run. Sorry to say we no longer have one in my county, the largest county in Florida.

Mute point anyway; I cannot imagine they are insurable after this, and liability w/o coverage is likely not something they can operate under. Not fair for them---They get the shaft over actions beyond their control. Bigger issue may be other ranges having difficulty insuring due to these incidents.
