Your M64 is fairly young and left the factory in 2014.
Thanks. I knew that it was post-2004, but good to know that it is only 4 years old. I bought it as a law enforcement/corrections surplus, but it was LNIB with all accessories and matching S&W label on box. Doubt it was ever shot outside the factory, and probably hardly carried.

Hi.

I just want to know the manufacture date of:

Model 15-4
2"
Square butt
6 shot
87K07XX

Thanks.

Can you please advise when S&W Model 15-3 serial number 8K57xxx was manufactured? Blue, 4" bbl, sq butt. Thanks.

I have a model 40 that has always confused me when it comes to it's age.

First, it is a 4 screw that places it before 1955 IIRC. (note that it still has the safety lock pin in the storage hole)

It has the flat latch which is also reasonable at that time.

But it is also yoke stamped as a Mod 40 which puts it after 1957 IIRC...

with a fairly low serial number.

So is this an old frame that sat around until after the Model Naming started?

This is a police trade-in Model 10-8.
AUH3861
I’m guessing mid-80s era?

Edit: Corrected a typo. Might also be an import stamp. Stand by.....

Maybe AUH3861?

That's a weird place for an S&W serial number. Does it match the serial number under the crane/on the butt? Look back at some of the other pictures in the thread and you can see where the serial numbers are typically stamped.

The M10-8 had guns issued to the New York State DMV and to the Boston PD. That gun might be from the BPD because it's a heavy barrel. It looks like the serial number was added to the top strap for easy ID and that number comes back as 1986 which falls near the end of the M10-8 series.

Check your gun and see if it's marked either NYS DMV or BPD.

Update:
AUH3861 is indeed the SN. I'm guessing the agency that used it added a second serial number for easier identification. Bought the gun from Bud's. The comments indicate it was a service weapon in France or Belgium.

a) 45 Auto Rim or 45 ACP
b) 5.5 inch BBL
c) Square Grips
d) 6 Shot
e) Fixed Sights
f) 1811XX
g) 45 Hand Ejector

No US Government markings.
I'm not sure if this one, like I have said before I'm no expert, I just try to help.
Are you sure there isn't an S prefix before the numbers? Maybe to the far left of the numbers? If there is an S then your revolver left the factory in 1958. If not I'm sorry because I'm just not sure.
