Probably go with model 60 no lock, 2.5 inch barrel.

Shoot light 38s for range time, should last a long time with that. Can load up with 357s for woods. Winchester 110 gr 357 hps aren't bad recoil wise, neither are 158 grain jsps outdoors.

Only one pistol? What, no back up gun? Oh, this is going to be difficult, but I think I am going with a revolver, perhaps a S&W 686-plus for the 7-round capacity.

From a strictly practical perspective, probably a Kimber Micro 9, since it's one of the best conceal carried guns I've encountered. Having a handgun that can't be CC'd seems to be disregarding the most positive attribute of a handgun.

If my choice was a little less practical and more based on emotion, probably a 2" Model 36 from the vintage era (or maybe an old Model 60, which would suffer less finish abuse from carry.)

A good number of people who weigh in on threads like these answer "Glock if I have to choose, but I'm glad I don't have to."

I would have a hard time choosing between my CZ PCR and my CZ Custom SP-01. The SP-01 does shoot just a bit better, but straight up, when I handle the PCR, I can't help but notice that it's a handy little pistol.

Whichever way a coin flip landed, I would have reason to wish that it was the other one.

I’m a revolver guy at heart, but within the parameters of the OP, I’ll take a 1911, full size or commander. Second would be my 4506, then P229 and finally Grock.
Prefer 45/40/357S/9mm in that order. Carry on!

If I had to choose from existing firearms it would be a 5" 1911 in .45 acp without question. However, after owning a SA-35 for a little while, I wish there was a High Power/.45 hybrid. That would be perfect.

FN did make them in .40S&W, and FEG had a D/A .45 thing that kinda looked like a Hi-Power, but the mechanism had more in common with a scaled-up S&W M39.

I always think about this situation. If SHTF in Seattle, Earthquakes or Volcano. What guns would I take? can’t take them all and I have a few minutes to decide.

4 guns: 2 AR’s, Glock 17, and a LC9… All been proven to work. Ammo is ready, mags are ready.

I have one of them big and heavy Pelican gun cases to grab n go if I ever had to leave with my butt on fire. In it I have an AR-15 a4 (full size not M4) with the carrying handle n peep sight. I have a Tikka T3 Varmint in 6.5 Creed that I shoot out to 600 yards, a Remington 870 with an 18.5 and 28 inch barrel and my Glock 22 40S&W. I also have a bi pod and extra mags.

It’s a $200 case and one of those Havalin knives with a black sharpie. I added a 100 round plastic box of Creed ammo and the shotgun with spare barrel sits on top of these with a thick foam divider. The only downside…. It weighs a metric ton but has wheels. I just need to get it to the back of the pickup though. Lol

High cost of living and missed days from work that's why have items for sale in classifieds. Shield is most practical choice to carry plus have owned it several years and reasonably accurate with it , also have plenty FMJ and JHP ammo

Thanks the last sold was M&P 2.0 really didn't like stippled grip , I kept couple 17 rd mags. When get a chance will buy M&P 1.0 , I like the grip and guns shops are full of them

I don't know Trey...that gun looks a little dangerous. On sunny days that plated finish could flash in the sunlight and cause vision problems.

If I could only have one handgun

The gun I carry the most is my S&W 442, but the handguns I like to shoot the most are my 686 357mag and XDM compact 45acp. The handgun that is the most capable is my 69 44mag. If the SHF I would grab my Glock 19.
