If you could only have one gun in .40?

I have a Glock 23C and a Glock 22. I have never been able to shoot the 23 as well as the 22. The 23 has a snap to the recoil that I don't notice with the 22. Long story short (too late): Glock 22.

I'll be original and say: Mauser M2. Very accurate, flawless functionality, and really comfortable to my big mitts.

Springfield XD-40 service. Great handgun, ultrareliable, a pleasing and accurate gun to boot.

if I intended on a 40 to carry, glock 27.

S&W 4006. Only .40 I have any real experience with.

Same controls as my 5906 (which I like very much), all stainless steel, 10-shot mag (11 if you get pre-ban mags, but you are only losing one round if you use the 10-shots), nice trigger, full-size so it fits my hand well, more accurate than I am, points right for me. Probably a bunch of others I can't think of right offhand.

A lot of you guys voted for the Glock, and that's cool, they're good, but for me it's a S&W.

I'm not trying to be snippy here but...oh what the heck I a trying to be snippy....For those of you who chose to disparage the .40 in your posts please keep your negative comments to yourselves. I certainly didn't ask for them. I like the .40 and that is why I asked which .40 not which 9mm or .357 or 45, or whatever else..think there was a 10mm reference in there too. I am getting sick and tired of everytime someone asks a question about a .40 that they probably like, someone has to call it weak or suggest another caliber. 1911's arent my first choice but I don't respond to 1911 questions saying...why would you want that antiquated overpriced gun when you can have a Glock or a Beretta that is more reliable for half the price. I don't because I was raised to beleive that its not my job to be negative or rain on someones parade if I don't like what they do. Then some call it the short and weak. Well I hope that person doesn't like the 9mm because name a 9mm that is more powerfull then the most powerful .40 round? SO I guess the 9mm would be really weak. By the way I like the 9mm and the 1911 I'm just making a point. If the question is to compare calibers then say whatever you want but please...stay on topic or please keep your negative comments to yourself. I for one prefer the .40 over all other rounds for combat.

Jedi: It's just something that happens. It's not personal, and it's not worth getting upset about, because it probably won't change in our lifetimes. In fact, I think it's even one of Tamara's "rules." Hang around long enough, and you'll probably do it someday, too.

If you really, really want to narrow the discussion to a particular whatever , you have to state that politely but explicitly at the beginning. It probably won't help, but it might.

And to be fair, sometimes the digressions are actually helpful, if they make someone think about something they otherwise would not have.

The fact that it happens doesnt make it right or cool. Dont get me wrong Im not gonna cry about it it jsut irritates me because its rude. I dont knock other peoples choices so please don't knock mine. If you dont care about irritating others continue to do so but if you want to be courteous please don't.

Just 1 gun in .40..........

Well, that's not going to happen in my lifetime, but just to play the game, I'd stick with my Walther P99, though I really like my Glock, Kahr, and Browning. The .40 is my favorite all-around handgun caliber.

Don't really care, just as long as I can get a good credit for it when I trade it in on a .357 Mag. revolver. :)

Actually, I shot a member's Beretta 96 the other day, and it was REALLY nice. He had had some work done to it, but recoil was not at all bad compared to some of the other .40s I've shot.

P7M10 .. One of my favorites. Accurate, fast and little recoil. This is a great gun for those with large hands. Not for the timid.

That's easy - Beretta 96

I would have to say my 96. I haven't shot all of those others that have been mentioned, but then I haven't felt the need. The Beretta 96 is an excellant range gun and an acceptable carry piece.

Good luck making your choice.
