If you could have only one pistol?

There is never a consensus on anything
It's all purely subjective. Nothing to learn, except about those with maybe weird taste in handguns or especially, caliber choices.

I can't remember if I responded in this thread or not... maybe the same topic a few years ago or so...

Seven pages and few actually state their reasoning. So, it appears this is simply another, what's your favorite handgun thread.

For me, 9mm seems logical, common and inexpensive. But I'd want something I know I could keep running for another (hopefully) 25 to 30 years.

Yeah, um, if I had to choose one pistol for the rest of my lifetime... logic would seem to dictate it'd be one I've taken an armorer's course on, or otherwise at least know pretty intimately. Sadly, that limits me to the 1911, Beretta 92FS/M9, SIG P-226, nd S&W M&P. So, it'd come down to between the Beretta and the P-226, which to me is a toss-up 'cause I love 'em both almost equally. Probably choose the SIG, a tad more ergonomic. So there.

As I have posted previously, a good 4-inch revolver in .357 Magnum. My preference is a Ruger GP100. I think of myself primarily as an outdoorsman, and the .357 is a capable and versatile handgun. Loaded from mild to wild, it can serve for plinking, defense, and hunting. Everybody should have one.

Runner up is a Glock 23 with a 9mm conversion barrel and magazines in both cartridges. Again, while it would not be my favorite for hunting, I wouldn't feel under-gunned on a hike. The 9mm conversion barrel makes it a better plinker, whereas the .40 is (arguably) the better defensive round.

4" .357..............been debating a new stainless Python.

But I'm still trying to find a new Delta Elite.

Hickok45 had a video asking a similar question. I find the question not so easily answered tbh. I'm quite fond of colts and/or clones so it would be one of those. it would also be sa. im going to say Colt s.a. As for which chambering that is also difficult. I like the iconic .45 but I shoot .38 (LC of course) much better.

I have an 1858 pietta with an 8" barrel and a 45LC conversion cylinder. Not a concealed gun, but I can stay on a pie plate at 40 yards and could probably still hit anything at 60 yards. We have two Glocks and a p365 and I no where near have the confidence shooting them as I do with the single action 45LC.
