Is it so wrong to want a Lady Smith?

The Ladies

The lady revolvers are really nice. Though I prefer the 60ls and 65ls over the 36ls. My hubby liked the 60ls so much he wanted to trade for his straight 60. I traded the grips for some uncle mike boot grips though. Much more comfy. I'm not sayin their our favorites though, since we have a huge family of smiths. Hee Hee.

Yeah, ya big Sissy. Get a man's gun like a North American Arms 22short. Now that's a gun that should come with a lipstick.

I've got a 60LS 3" for my wife's nightstand gun. She shoots it fine, and I love the way it shoots. I also just won a bid on 36LS 3" to have as a back-up if the 60LS ever went down, in for service, etc. I think they are fine guns.

I'm really puzzled by a lot of the comments in this thread. I'm always delighted to go out in public with a beautiful Lady on my arm. I can't fathom being embarrassed by carrying a revolver named LadySmith.

I will agree with Ovid that "Smith & Wesson" is a girly name, :neener: but I like girls. If the sideplates don't have Colt prancing ponies on them, then they're all just also-rans anyway, right?

Just Kidding! ;)

Wait...I'm convinced! :what: Ewwwww! They've all got Girl Fleas! Don't Buy Them!!! YUCK! :barf:

{translation: I haven't bought mine yet, and I don't want y'all driving the prices up too fast.}

Rule 1: Have a gun.

I don't care what it says, if it saves my life it could be named the poopie-head special and I would still appreciate it and recommend it to others.

I'd own, with pride (provided quality equipment), a Lady Fal, a Lady Serbu Shorty, a Lady Hi-Power, a Lady AK and so on. The revolver could be pink with rhinestones and a doily on the grips....well that would be more of an Old Lady Smith but you get the idea.

Do some people get all oogli-woogli if they are an adult using a youth model long gun? Probably not.

36LS

My most common daily carry gun is a 637-2. There had been a 36LS at the gun store right down the street from my office for a couple of months. Certainly sweet and good price ($400 NIB). So I bought "her" today - a steel frame J that fits my existing Kramer holsters is a nice fit.

As to the "Lady Smith" - I have been practicing sword arts for about 15 years, primarily Japanese (which I teach) but I own and do a little training with European swords as well. It is common to name a sword "Lady _____".

Or, for fans of Robert Heinlein, from Glory Road:

"I drew my sword and glanced along it, feeling its exquisite balance while noting again the faint ripples left by the feather-soft hammerblows of some master swordsmith. I tossed it and caught it by the forte. "Read the motto, Star."

She traced it out. "Dum vivimus, vivamus! -- 'While we live, let us live!'"

The sword, of course, was named "Lady Vivamus".

So, right now "Lady Smith" is on my hip in a Kramer paddle holster - this may be the start of a fine romance! ;)

I thought about the same question for awhile, then figured I was secure enough in my manhood to own one. My 60ls is now my favorite gun and my carry gun.

So, don't get your panties in a wad - if it blows your skirt up, buy it! :p

I ain't no lady

I carry a nice little "Lady Smith" 38 special, it reminds me of the old charter arms 5 shot I replaced with it. It does come with a cute little zip up purse in purple, I draw the line at that. It does fit well into my left front pocket of my jeans, and keeps me warm just like a good Lady should.
If anyone is ever so unlucky to look at the receiving end of it they won't be laughing at the name......... I personally hope that situation never arises

I have a NAA 22S and no LIPSTICK on me. Well, I do like Burt Bee's Honey Balm for Lips. That's for chapped lips after being out in the FIELD!!

I also have big guns too! They go boom!

Who cares?!

If you're gay, get it!

I've got no problems with gay dudes. If it's the Lady Smith that's right for you, get it.

Its just the name of the gun get a life!

And, when it comes to being in front of a jury - How about this tactic.

Well, I bought a ladysmith instead of a regular Smith and Wesson because I didn't want some big old mean cop killer gun?:neener:

For those juries with no sense. Actually, everone I've known who was on a jury talked about the experience afterwards with a lot of sense - and I don't think they would fall for these internet myths about re-loaded ammo, or whatever.

Will the Dirtbag on the receiving end notice or even care? :what:
That is if said Dirtbag survives!

It IS a gun and as such doesn't matter that is says Lady on it. Heck, If I had one I'd even show it to my freinds!

Since the original post was May 7, I'm guessin' either he got it or he didn't. If he got it, I wonder if he got a man purse to carry it in???:D Yuk, yuk, yuk. Yeah, anyway, some women like the "metrosexual" thing. Put that lady smith in that man purse and take her to see a broadway play. Show tunes on the MP3! :D

The object expires by exanguination, who cares about what the tool says that got the job done. Nuff said.

Go use a lady smith if you got small girly hands. ;)

Honestly though, they are made for small girly hands. Many guys have hands like that, no big deal. If you got them use them.

This one may draw admiring glances at the range.

Personally I don't care what it says, manufacturers choice, it reflects on their judgement not mine.

Hell, I have a SP101 that has "Read Instruction Manual" imprinted on the barrel, how sad is that? I'm surprised it doesn't say "This End Toward Enemy" ..:banghead:

Don't knock the Ladies

My girls all shoot magnum loads. The Model 36 is a bit lite, but the 60 and 65 LS can more than hold their own. The 65 with uncle mikes would probably fit a man hand really well. Buth then again, My idea of a perfect revolver is a K-frame in 357 mag.

Yesterday, I shot with a young woman who was quite competently blazing away with a Glock 22 - a 40.

Anyway, in the next Combat Handguns, Mas will have an article about 12 cases of guys who shot some BG with a Ladysmith and had to wear a dress to court.

Sorry, Mas. :D
