Just made major progress ignoring conventional wisdom (front sight focus)

I tried this yesterday on some B27 targets at 25 yards. Average score with magnifiers and a front sight focus: 68.8. Without magnifiers and a target focus: 67.6. Not a huge difference, especially considering the distance. I'll try it again today at ten yards and see how it goes!

If one visually indexes the out line of the handgun on as an example the standard IDPA target with both eyes open with the handgun at eye level with out focusing exclusively on the sights you would be surprised at the accuracy achieved. But if your triggering management and recoil management is not consistent then its problematic. Your group size should easily stay with in the 8in scoring circle easily in rapid fire sequences. You should be able to achieve fist size groups in rapid fire sequence with an example a RAP45 ten round magazine dump.
