Since TFL and THR share membership, no doubt many of you are aware of the challenge that Rich Lucibella offered to Gabe Suarez on TFL,
http://www.thefiringline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=159985

This is a debate between two gentlemen, or will be, and I know that the Membership will continue to make the Staff proud. Civility and courtesy are the watchwords of the day, as they are every day, even under - especially under - situation such as this one where emotions can run high on both sides.

The High Road, ladies and gentlemen. Stay the course.

Thank you,

LawDog

Sadly, it is a one-sided debate thus far since it appears that Mr Suarez has declined to respond. I think we would all be very interested to see him reply.

Nonetheless, it has already developed into an extremely interesting thread.

Regards,
ChickenHawk

Law,

Dang, I thought you done up and went lawyer on us (no offense to the lawyers on the board :) ).

I've been following the thread on TFL and I think that Rich has valid points.

Wayne

(you know, I like Rich now then I did before (when TFL was first up a couple of years back), he's really mellowed out and turns out that he isn't the ******* that I first thought ;) .)

Trying to keep it clean.

I went on WarriorTalk and looked at some of the threads. One that caught my attention was on voting for a Muslim. There was a consensus that Muslims were evil and out to kill us no matter what and by their very nature were unfit for office in the US. Now, maybe some people believe that. I personally was offended by the attitude and made some comments. I was roundly cursed out by a couple of my co-nonreligionists. Gabe closed the thread but I PMd him privately about it.
His responses were essentially, "yes, I'm a bigot. Dont confuse me with facts because I know it all already. Anyone who disagrees with me is obviously wrong."
I declined to post there anymore or read any threads. So the comments made on TFL about his character seem well-founded to me. I cannot comment on his abilities as a trainer or speaker.

I think the whole thing is silly. I don't give a rat's behind what Gabe or any other 'tactical trainer' think. Period.
And the only way you can become offended, is if you elevate some strangers opinion over yours. Until you do that, what someone else says, or writes, is just noise.
I did not find the posters on WarrierTalk any squirrelier then some on (this, and) other BBS.
.......but then thats just my take..............others may vary.

Dang, getting hot over there. No dog in the fight, but if civility and full participation can be maintained that will be one of the most interesting threads seen in a while.

Law, thanks for the heads up, and the reminder.

The warrior

Has been deleted from my machine. And GT has been put on the back burner.

The Warrior, to me was just so much Flotsam!
GT is like Jeeps Unlimited. Its full of cliques and when you post you have to run a gauntlet of nastys. Mostly the Moderators try to keep it above board but there are also moderators that are part and parcel of the program.

My wish is that THR and TFL can remain above this bickering and arguing. If this Gabe and the other guy wish to air their dirty laundry I don't care. I find their arguments trite and boring. I come to these boards to seek knowlege and information. And to impart my knowlege and information if it is of positive use to another seeker. No more no less. For those of you who like this kind of debate that's fine and you should have a right to it. But Sheesh! Enough aready! You are getting a reputation of being the Jerry Springer show of a wonderful media experience and have lost almost all credibility. This is not good for the firearm owner and one day these sensless arguments will disarm us all.

As P95Carry stated:
"Thanks for the link - I had not been aware of it until now."

I had read one post that really threw me and still don't quite know what to think or believe.

I too have “No dog in the fight†as psyopspec stated.

calzoom quote:
"This is not good for the firearm owner and one day these sensless arguments will disarm us all."

I visit all 3 sites mentioned and am a little shocked and suprised at some of the conduct. I do not believe that there is any one trainer that knows it all, but do feel that all can be learned from in one way or another.

I do believe that calzoom hits it right on the head with his quote. He is correct that it only hurts us all, and the ANTIS love it. If they can point to people with our beliefs about the 2nd being a bunch of infighting, or discontented individuals they will use it as ammunition for their cause.

Just my 02 and not meant to cause any bad feelings. :)

Gabe Suarez did respond once and was polite, but has not been back. Pretty boring if you ask me - it may not turn into a forum war but it's still "Pile on Suarez" time.

connection to Front Sight?

If I recall correctly, didn't Suarez and a few others have some sort of falling out with I. Piazza (spelling) who founded Front Sight? This would have happened a year or two after moving to Las Vegas. Does anyone know/remember?

Stay the course - is right.

Yes, I am aware of the thread. I am paying attention and reading with interest.

There is more to responsible firearm ownership - than fireams.

I have not attended any of the Training Methods discussed. What I have learned from being around on Earth and business, is pretty simple. Honesty, Respect, Integrity and Ethics are Earned, and defines one's character.

Brutal and Rigorus maintenance is needed to keep what earned.

A matter of Principal with me. Responsiblity to one's self -first is important. If one is not true to self how can they be of help to others.

I read threads and learn about the Character of folks and businesses. I agree to disagree to the best of MY ability.

There is a line in the sand with me in regard to my beliefs, cross that line and I have to stand up and defend my beliefs. One of my beliefs is attack one of my friends, family and I'm gonna bow up.

If I feel someone is giving incorrect information that threatens safe firearm handling, paints firearms owners in a negative manner,or mis-represents firearms in the use of self defense, I'm gonna bow up.

I know folks visit TFL/THR that are anti, fence sitters, and seek pro RKBA info. Many are NOT in the USA.

What perception did MY posts give those persons? I am repsonsible for that.
