Long Range Rifle/Scope/PRS question(s)

Final results for the NRA regional last weekend: Despite shooting a personal best I finished middle of the pack in 12th

I only dropped 2 shots with a final grand agg of 1198-85X and feel really good about it. I shot the Texas State championship a couple of weeks ago with 1198-79X. I posted the details on that match in the competition section here:

Dude that’s friggin awesome shooting! Very nice

I have played with the Rim-X quite a bit since the failures at the NRL-22 match. If you go too slow with the bolt the round can get up under (not forward or behind), the extractor, then it might pop behind it, but also might pop in front of it as the bolt continues forward. If you run the bolt reasonably quickly, it never happens. I also bought a second ten round mag and it seems slightly less prone to this. It can still happen though. It's very slick, but has to be run. It took me a bit to figure out what the Vudoo action liked as well, although it can run slow, no issues. Looking forward to the next match and trying it again.

I am spoiled by my centerfire Impact action which runs no matter how you run it, and is slick as snot on top of that. :)

Interesting… I wonder if it will “wear in”?

I totally forgot about getting a front cup in the Foundation stock, and Altus loves to make us shoot unsupported on one stage, so a sling is important.

I fixed that today by installing one. The aluminum backbone in the stock made it a little trickier, as did the fact it needed to go below center of the channel in the forend, making it necessary to remove material.

I routed out the space I needed (turned out to be more than I needed), drilled and tapped a hole and screwed in a threaded quick release cup. I also moded a Gray Ops M-Lok thumb rest slightly to fit the groove in the stock and mounted it. I used some stain to touch up under the QR cup where I routed out some material with a Dremel.

So walkalong now that you’ve had the foundation a while, you still like it?

This Revelation stocked .22? Yes, I really like the stock a lot, although I may rough it up in a couple of spots, they're pretty smooth/slick for old hands.

The Genesis with the Impact barreled action put together by Stuteville Precision? Awesome rifle, but I ended up switching
to a Matrix chassis because it was easier to carry/move with for my old hands. Loved that stock for prone/semi prone stages.

Hard to believe you’ve had it for 4 years now. Time flies. How many barrels have you been through? Still using 6dasher and the TT trigger?

Added a second rifle which I am shooting, just re-barreled the first one, need to sight it in/break it in get some numbers.

Started shooting NRL-22/PRS-22 as well, which is a lot of fun.

Still shooting the Dasher, have a TT Diamond in one gun and the new Bix'N Andy TacSport Pro-X in the other, both flat triggers.
Both are great triggers, but I prefer the feel of the Bix'N Andy.

I guess.

here it is at the last match 9-30-23. I bought it a piece at a time, starting with the Impact action. They are awesome! Then a Bartlein barrel, then a Matrix chassis.
(Jeff gave me a 30% off cert), then a TT Diamond trigger, mounted the Steiner 5-25X50 I picked up on sale about 4 years ago. It's in ARC rings, which are great.

Very cool! My stocks are kinda backwards lol. I have a 300nm in an MPA chassis that I really wish was in a foundation. And my 6dasher is in a foundation and I really want it in an MPA. I’d swap but you know short and long actions don’t mix so well

Jeff was 20th, I was21st, out of 47. I did manage top senior. Only one in our squad to clean the KYL, lots of zeros on that one, as we shot it like a true KYL.

Had fun, tired, frustrated with a couple of stages where I made mental errors and cost me hits. Hydrocortisone shot in the left wrist Thursday helped. Not the mental, but the bag handling. 👍

Alright guys I got a question for you.

Last night I ordered an Arken SH4J 6-24. The original thought was to put it on my Bergara B14R and take the Razor 3-18 off of that rifle and put it on my Remington 700P. The thinking is that the Remington will be shot at much further ranges and the extra clarity would be more beneficial on that rifle.

However, this morning I was called by a friend who is a gunsmith/FFL. He and a couple other gunsmiths are starting a monthly 22lr competition. So now Im signed up to shoot these competitions and likely will be able to go regulary. As of now the range they are using only goes to 200 yards. Though longer ranges are available.

So do I keep the Razor on the 22 and put the Arken on the Remington? Or is my original idea still the way to go?

Obviously this is assuming the Arken works properly when it arrives.
