Long Range Rifle/Scope/PRS question(s)

I was 21st, out of 47. I did manage top senior. Only one in our squad to clean the KYL, lots of zeros on that one, as we shot it like a true KYL.

Had fun, tired, frustrated with a couple of stages where I made mental errors and cost me hits. Hydrocortisone shot in the left wrist Thursday helped.
Congrats!

Ultimately, we don't really "compete" with others at matches rather the "ghost" of our previous best performance. ;)

So regardless of our physical body condition/aches and pain/aging effects/mental focus, as long as we are not degrading from our competition with ourself, we are doing good. :)👍

CenterX was 10 lots of 20 shots each
Midas was 10 lots of 5-20 shots each (lots that started off poorly we shut down)
Once the CenterX was tested, the best lot was ~.9” at 100 meters with 17 of the 20 touching.
ES was 19 fps on 20 rounds

Midas was slightly better at .8” and ES of 17 fps
but the price for a 5000 round lot was not worth the squeeze to me. I went 2nd place and considerably cheaper to CenterX. For PRS use, the slight edge of Midas wasn’t worth the extra $$$

Already paid and have 5000 rounds of CenterX/Vudoo food en route to the house

The free Proof barrel from the Cert I picked up finally came in. It's the Competition contour and 1 lb 1 Oz heavier than the barrel that was on the RimX. Balances great with no bipod. I got it sighted in with SK Standard Plus and ran about 70 rounds through it. I need to shoot some groups with what I have on hand and see what it likes.

I added some steps on the .22 LR KYL setup to help me paint the paddles and I made a cardboard holder for stapling targets to for shooting groups. Just slide the cardboard down into the two opposing pieces of angle and staple the target.

I'm still working, but signed up for Social Security at 66 1/2, so I've been double dipping, which is nice. I have received 3 payments so far and not touched it, until yesterday. Scope List and Eurooptic both have some Nightforce scopes 10% off, no tax, no shipping........

Ordered a ATACR 5-25X56 C616, and rings (A224) of course. They knocked $20 off the rings as well. I'm excited about it. I really need to quit, will only be getting SS pretty soon.

Kahles K 525i left hand windage - I really like this scope

I always wondered why left hand windage wasn’t more popular.

Back when US Optics made custom scopes I ordered one with windage on the left since I’m left handed. But what I really wanted was parallax on the right. I ordered the capped windage turret and never touch it as I always hold wind.

After some time I realized all scopes are really left handed lol. Parallax is something I move constantly as I’m checking the mirage etc. and I want to do that with my trigger hand as I am using my support hand to hold the gun up.

So I’m kind of baffled why right hand shooters don’t demand parallax knobs on the right side.

I love the fact that the my right hand stays on the gun, the left hand dials the windage, elevation, and parallax

When I bought the new Zeiss S5 a couple of years ago to upgrade from the Bushnell XRS II, @taliv asked a great question.........Why not Nightforce?

Remedied that, picked it up Thursday evening. I haven't looked through it outside yet, but peaked at the reticle inside, and my first impression was wow, I like that reticle, crisp clear, easy to read. One thing I like is it is a bit less fine than a couple I have/aka "bigger" at lower powers than some. We have rain all day/most of the weekend, and I have some stuff to do, but I hope to mount it and get a better first impression soon.

Nightforce ATACR F1 5-25X56 Mil-XT - Black Friday Special - A bit over 1 SS payment, the first I have spent.

What scopes should be. Solid, turrets with good detents and zero stop, capped windage lol clear glass and a well thought out reticle. Double your spend from there gets you maybe 5% improvement?

Only downside is the entire ocular rotates with mag change. Makes using butler creek style covers a PITA and cameras like triggercam nearly impossible

Yea, that's kind of odd. I don't usually use caps during a match, but in the blowing dust/wind one would want to. I have a little scope cover though, if needed.

Nothing fancy, just a little rain suit. I have a whole rifle cover as well if it really starts raining.

I looked through it the best I could today late. It's hard to hold scopes still if they aren't mounted, but one thing is obvious, clarity/sharpness goes edge to edge.

I need to get it mounted soon. I was losing light, but it was nice and bright on the lower end of the power range, 5 to 11. I'm pretty excited about it.
