I'm a huge fan of the Ruger PC carbines. Both the old models and the new models. I have one of each of the old models, 9mm and 40 S&W. I have numerous of the new Takedown models in 9mm, but I missed out on the 40 S&W Takedown during the short time it was produced. I've been keeping an eye out for one ever since. They occasionally show up on Gunbroker, but seem to always go for well over $1k.
I travel a lot for work and have a list of pawn shops I stop in and check when passing through. This week I'm in Montana (Woooo. No sales tax.) and I stop by one of the shops on my list. Going in, I scan the used gun rack. I see some deals, but nothing I'm really looking for. At the end I see a pair of Ruger PC Takedowns. Not expecting much, I ask the clerk if either of them were 40 S&W.
Clerk: "Yea, this one is a 40."
Me: "Oh, could I take a look at it please?" (The expression I'm hiding from the clerk = )
Looking it over, it's basically brand new. No box, but it has the mag adapter, several glock mags, and a backpack takedown case. Plus a cheesey flashlight on a loose mount.
The best part? It was priced similar to a PC-9 ! There must have been no PC-40s on gunbroker when they priced it, so they just slapped on a similar price as a used PC-9, charging slightly more for the case and mags.
Needless to say, that PC-40 now belongs to me. I can't wait to take it out this weekend. Serial number search says it was made in 2019.
So yea. Still excited and decided to show off.
