Does anyone have any knowledge of whether or not Ruger plans to resume production of the Model 60? I realize they want to up the sales of the 10-22, but they own the 60 now, and it should make them a lot of money.

I hope they do bring the 60 back. I have a buddy that thinks they won't. He said "Why would Ruger bring out the 60, the competitor to their own model 10/22, when they have the market cornered on semi-auto 22s?" I suggested that, if you don't prefer a 10/22, like me, then what do you turn to? The model 60. So if they brought it out, they would have the market nearly completely cornered for semi-auto 22s.

Interesting, on that link they mislabel a Marlin 70PSS Papoose as a Marlin 795.

That does not speak well of Rugers knowledge of Marlins. lol
If they own it, they can call it what they like. Like car companies reused names of classic cars for modern stuff with no style.

They're on the website. Years ago I would hear folks say that Ruger should buy Marlin just so they can shut down model 60 production. It's only sound business sense to produce both.

This, absolutely this.

The Marlin 60 is the number 1 highest selling civilian firearm model of all time, and until production ceased, it was outpacing the 10/22 around 2:1. In most cases, for good reason - they were cheaper, and for many folks, “not being a 10/22” was a motivation as well. Simple, light, handy, and more svelte built than a 10/22, they have been the Everyman’s 22LR for generations.

Ruger would be absolutely foolish to not bring the Marlin back to market, and in general, most indicators point to Ruger’s marketing team being industry leaders in performance, certainly not foolish. Hence, we’re getting the 60 back.

Absolutely! It only makes sense to produce both to satisfy both types of buyers.

I've heard this a lot and it makes no sense when they can do both and cover both options. Ruger has never been foolish when it comes to making money, or spending it.

Now hopefully theyll bring back the Camp 9 Marlin and Camp 45. Could be great additions to the pistol caliber carbine.

I only hope that the new renditions of the Model 60 come with better optic mounting choices, better iron sights and can run some of the cheaper .22lr ammo a bit more reliably compared to the much older 60s. I could only get mine to reliably fire CCI. Would effectively become a single shot with Blazer.

Mine would always run whatever crap ammo I dumped into them. The only issue I ever had were dud rounds which is typical of poor quality rimfire ammunition.

You know websites are normally constructed and maintained by folks who know nothing of the subject matter, right?

Yep. Usually the content is handed to the web design folks by the company that hired them. And the person that created and handed the web design folks the content might not be knowledgeable of the product either.

My model 60 which dates from '73, will run anything I've tried except thunderbolts and some of the more recent federals; both due to inconsistency in powder charge causing light cycling. Golden bullets, cci blazer, mini mags, winchester 333, and aguila all run without a hiccup.

Negative Ghost Rider.

If they do I hope the long tradition of excellent accuracy follows too. Love my 60's. Never had a basic 10/22 close to their level of accuracy at the same price class. Tough decision for Ruger, now

The same reason they will not bring those back is the same reason we will not see a 60......at least IMHO.

However old Bill (ten rounds is enough for anyone) Ruger is not running the show any longer, so I guess it is possible. I just don't see it with Ruger already having a product in that market segment.
