I did not grow up around guns. My father had an air rifle and some awful RG revolver and my granddaddy had an old Clerke revolver. Frankly, I was terrified of real guns. I got married right after graduating college and my wife at the time introduced me to some old beat up 32 cal S&W revolver. Couldn't tell you what it was. We went to a friends property and she loaded one round in the cylinder and I fired it. I was hooked.

Over the course of seven years of marriage I developed a modest collection of firearms that I grew to love. In 2013 we divorced and my collection minus a carry gun was sold to cover child support/custody and divorce fees.

Over the past two years I have caught up financially and am in a really good place again. My kids and I all share a love of firearms and shooting. Last year I decided there were several pieces I wanted to buy back. Maybe not the actual serial number of gun, but the same make and model.

Gun #1: 1972 Colt Detective Special

This one hurt to lose. I found this at my favorite gun shop in TN without any effort to find it. I hadn't gotten that far down the list yet.

It was exciting to check this one off the list, especially since it was in better condition than the one I had before AND I acutally got it for a good price. Well below gunbroker listings I was seeing. Finding this gun really started me wanting to get some of the rest.

Gun #2:

Old Model Single Six. I love these things. I had two of them I sold before. Neither of them are like these I picked up. 1956 and 1958:

Kids love these things!

Gun #3 in my quest to get my stuff back:

Sig P232SL. Really lucked into finding this one. Had been looking online at gunbroker and armslist for a while and the prices were really more than I wanted to pay. Finally found it a few weekends ago for a good price and jumped on it. Wood grips on order.

The world is trying to make me whole I feel!

Gun #4: Dan Wesson Classic Bobtail Commander

This was my shining star of my collection. I searched and searched for this one recently. Holy cow the prices had gone up. All the used ones I would find had massive idiot scratches on them (come ON people) or had been well carried and extensively marked up. I finally found one on ARMSLIST this past weekend for a good price. It was an individual and it was out of state. We agreed he would ship it FFL to FFL, but I was SUPER nervous the whole time waiting for this deal to be complete. I took some risks in this deal putting my money out there. This gun arrived today and I am SO excited to have one of these back.

If you've read this far, thank you. These guns are but a few in my collection now. I no longer trade or sell guns and value each one for the memories I make with them with my kids. And while these are but a few, it has meant a lot for me to get them "back" after the personal journey I've been through.

One gun remains. The search continues for gun #5. I will find it. Here is a photo of the actual one I owned.

It was a limited run Lipsey's Model #10130 Ruger Mark III, Matte Black with Silver Hogue grips. It was the last gun I bought before things went south. I hope soon I can update this thread with a mission accomplished on this one!

Great to hear you're back in the hunt, so to speak, for some lost treasures! You now have the makings of a very nice collection again and I hope you continue to have success with your ongoing journey!

I will echo WestKentucky: You sir, have good taste. That Colt DS is beautiful, wow. Welcome back, for sure!

The CBOB is one of my all-time favorites as well, below is my 2009 (only issue is the dimming night sights):
