I've got two custom builds going at the moment and just got together most of the parts for a nice little rifle to build my boy. So far we have a VZ24 CZ BRNO action and barrel , butterknife handle, express rear sight, a nice little walnut stock.
My goal is to build him a classic styled stalking rifle , meaning a rifle quick to swing , iron sights only, and a barrel band sling. I've got the receiver draw filed and stoned down for engraving, was thinking in the Rigby style text at top of ring ".275 Rigby" not settled on what will go below that. Stock needs some work and a new recoil pad, as always your thoughts are welcomed.

When I had mine built I had it engraved .275 Rigby or 7x57. If you ever go to Africa they inspect to make sure the ammunition matches the rifle.

Serial still remains on ejector side.
I was thinking maybe ??? on forward Reciever ring
.275 Rigby

Where did you find the bolt handle? Or have you yet. I've got a few of those projects in the works as well, and haven't had any luck finding any butterknife bolt handle replacements. I'm trying to avoid having to chuck up a piece of steel and turning/machining one...

If you really want it to be something special, send the receiver off to be color case hardened. It looks like it will be a beautiful iron sight rifle!

I got the bolt handle on ebay, would love to have a case hardened action but they run 500 for the service, the other rifle Im building will have the trigger guard floorplate and bolt shroud CChardened.

That looks like a really good start on a nice custom Mauser. Where did you find that stock? I'm working on a Mauser project of my own and had been considering a synthetic stock, but that stock has about changed my mind.
Please keep us updated on the progress of your project!

Yeah, I sent a message to Don Markey a few months ago about butterknife bolt handles. He never responded. I guess he either doesn't make them anymore or is too busy to respond. Guess I'll look on ebay to. Sorry to hijack, that will be a beautiful rifle!

Don is who I got mine from on ebay. If you are interested in it I would be willing to trade to a decent Oberndorf handle.
