need ideas for a mouse/pocket gun

The P64 came in and I was very happy with it. It was built in 1970 and appears to have been hardly used at all and hardly carried either. I think the extra $10 for hand select worked out well with this one. I shot it yesterday and had no issue with the trigger. DA is a bit much, but there is no way you can say it accidentally went off.. I think most of the online comments about how it is not useful in DA mode are mostly posted by drama queens that expect perfection out of everything in life.
Definitely not much of a pocket gun, though. I got a pocket holster and put it in my pocket, but it's pretty easy to tell what it is..

After I put the hammer spring in, I could routinely hit a 6" plate at 25 yards off hand DA. I couldn't consistently hit a paper plate from 15 yards with the stock spring in it. It was a dramatic change for me so I guess I'm a drama queen.

It's as thin as a PF9 and a lot thinner than my P11 that I pocket all the time, same height and only maybe a quarter inch longer in the slide. It is heavier, but not that heavy. I don't really worry much about printing, but it prints much less in a pocket than my Kel Tec because it's as thin as a P3AT/PF9. I think it works rather well in a pocket. I also like it in my Law Concealment Systems IWB pouch. The thinness of it makes it quite comfy IWB. Doesn't have the bulge of my revolvers nor the thickness of my Kel Tec.

Difference is really moot, though, as all those other choices I compare it to are acceptable to me for either pocket or IWB carry. I guess you could go long tail T shirt/polo shirt and OWB if you can't carry it any other way. Anything that fits a PPK should work where leather is concerned. I never did figure out why 007 carried his PPK in a friggin' shoulder holster. :D

You should try a 19 lb hammer spring in it, though. Hard to tell you how much difference, just need to see. :D I was thinkin' it wasn't bad enough to mess with, either, but I'm glad I did. The 22 lb recoil spring mitigates recoil a bit, but the 19 lb hammer spring was the real improvement.

I find that my P64 prints only slightly more than my wife's J-frame when carried in my right front pocket. Most of the extra printing is due to the square-ish slide, the narrow barrel of the J-frame breaks up the obvious gun profile. I carry the P64 in a DeSantis SuperFly, the rectangular flap is a tradeoff. It makes the lump look more rectangular but it also makes it almost 1/4" thicker. I think I'll find some stiff foam rubber about 1/2" thick and glue it onto the narrow areas of the pocket holster in the area under the barrel so it makes a nice rectangular pocket bulge without the extra thickness of the flap.

I think most people worry about printing too much. Not like anyone walking around is looking for gun carriers and knows what a gun prints like. Of course, laws do vary state by state. In Texas, if it's not exposed to the view of the general public, it's legal.

The foam thing is a good idea, though. Might make it look more like a wallet or pocket book.

I agree. When I check my concealment in the mirror before I go out I can't really see any definite shape even when pocket carrying my Taurus 24/7 .45 compact. It's more noticeable when I'm sitting, sometimes I have to remind my wife to let me have the restaurant seat that puts my right pocket toward the wall.

When I sit in my wrangler cargos, the pocket slides down behind the cargo pocket and there's just too much going on there to see a gun print of any kind. But, yeah, if you leave the gun setting on your leg, don't let the pocket drop to the side as it will, it'll print a bit. Like Coke man says, I really don't care, though. I'm still quite legal.

I'm more into the sitting toward the wall thing with IWB than I am pocket carry. I get paranoid the shirt might hang on something and expose the gun.

I like my LCP. Not sure if it is the best option out there but it certainly is one I don't regret. It does take practice to keep that short sight radius on target with the pull weight of the trigger, but after it is learned, it is fairly accurate. If a trigger kit was made for the LCP that put the trigger in the 6lb range I think it would be an even better option. I will say, anything longer than the LCP would be too big for me to pocket carry. It is about at the maximum I can get to hide in any pocket I have. The only other .380 I really am interested in is the Sig but I think thats for the look.

With me it's a combination of length and height. I can pocket carry the P64 in any pants I have but the Makarov is a little iffy in some of my pants. My entire wardrobe consists of Dockers-style pants, the dress code for work. I have three or four pair of jeans but those are mainly for working in the yard. The butt of the grip on the Mak and the Taurus 24/7 Compact try to peek out the edge of my pocket in the pants with shorter pockets.

If that was directed at me, I was referring to two different pistols. I own a P-64 AND a Makarov.
