They're a little on the heavy side for their size, but in a good holster, they conceal nicely and shoot very, very well. Then there's the timeless styling, the classic lines of its big brother; what's not to like? Yeah, I'd snap up another one if I encountered it in the wild ...

I hope I'm wrong, but we may look back on the day's we could buy ANY CZ product for $600.00 with envy.i checked out the lgs a few days ago. of the new guns, no ARs, a few bolt guns, a lot of 22 lr heritage rough riders, the 45 cabinets only had 2 guns left. 3 to 4 40s and about three 9 mms but one of them was a cz75 PCR for $599. ( cheaper than the msrp of $615). i already have a pcr so i just moved on.
I had never heard of CZ until 2001 and I had been a Firearms Instructor and was in on the 9MM testing for the Federal DOJ when they were deciding on a firearm. I saw CZ82's advertised in Shotgun News and since I had an 03 license I ordered one. When I received it my first thought was it was brand new. Close, it did have faint rack marks. Then I thought "By God, they cheated me! No rifling in the barrel." Luckily I researched polygon rifling before I made a fool of myself complaining. The first magazine of 12 went into center mass from 25 yards. FMJ Russian stuff. I did a little checking around and found CZ civilian models were around and no one had anything bad to say about them except they were pricey. I though if a surplus Military pistol shoot's this good what will a civilian pistol do in 9X19 MM? I found a dealer that had a CZ P-01 in stock and the rest is history as they say. One thing that I noticed is that CZ's tend to be priced higher than most contemporary pistols. I think their worth it. (I ended up buying six more CZ 82's)The very high quality of my PCR (75D) easily convinced me of the superb Czech quality of the VZ-58 rifle, imported by Czechpoin
roval/Terry G: It always surprises me that CZs are not better-known all over the US.
I have a friend who always shoots (only) SA on my DA/SA guns before trying them out.
This DA/SA feature and their weight might help explain why 75s, 75Ds didn't sell quicker in Normal years?

The Tri-Star pistols seem to be well made! I recently read that the are no longer importing the alloy framed models. Does anyone know if that is true?A PCR solves that with an alloy frame, but comes with a decocker. If one so desires an alloy framed safety model, Tri-star offers such a creature. They also make an alloy framed SP01.
The only thing I don't like about the compacts is the trigger but a 85 combat trigger is a easy swap.
