Outside of Beretta's it was the only Self Defense gun I saw in three big box stores so I grabbed it up. I didn't need another.one but in today's world you never know. Here's something I didn't know the two 15 round magazines are also designed to fit in the .40 model also. I have to get out more. IMG_0129.JPG

They're a little on the heavy side for their size, but in a good holster, they conceal nicely and shoot very, very well. Then there's the timeless styling, the classic lines of its big brother; what's not to like? Yeah, I'd snap up another one if I encountered it in the wild ...

A PCR solves that with an alloy frame, but comes with a decocker. If one so desires an alloy framed safety model, Tri-star offers such a creature. They also make an alloy framed SP01.
The only thing I don't like about the compacts is the trigger but a 85 combat trigger is a easy swap.

CZ makes fine pistols. I own an SP01 Shadow and it is a lot of fun at the range though my preferences for hammer fired pistols are for SIG and HK.

I was at LGS last Sunday and surprised at all the CZs they had. I counted about 40 in the display case including PCR, PO1, and PO1 Omega. CZ and Smith and Wesson were the two lines of pistols that they had significant in stock but they are one of the largest around these parts.

My brother had an original CZ 75 and my only complaint with it was that the trigger was a bit of reach in DA mode. Other than that the gun's ergos easily matched those of my beloved Browning Hi-Power.Finally got one for myself a while back in the form of a P01. The place where I got it from made me an offer I couldn't refuse on a Kadet .22 conversion so I bought that too!

Then for Christmas a couple of years ago I received a P07 that made me have a "what if" moment as in if Colt made a double stack polymer Commander this is what it would feel like to me! I know, I know it's kind of far fetched but that's how I feel about this fine pistol with the thumb safety installed for Condition One carrying. I also got the Kadet .22 Conversion for it this past Christmas (my wife really outdid herself last year)!

i checked out the lgs a few days ago. of the new guns, no ARs, a few bolt guns, a lot of 22 lr heritage rough riders, the 45 cabinets only had 2 guns left. 3 to 4 40s and about three 9 mms but one of them was a cz75 PCR for $599. ( cheaper than the msrp of $615). i already have a pcr so i just moved on.

I hope I'm wrong, but we may look back on the day's we could buy ANY CZ product for $600.00 with envy.

The PCR, although a little chunky for carry, responds well to G10 grips. They bump up the aesthetics a bit, slim the grip and make it feel better to me. I believe I paid around $30 for a set of Cool Hand grips off Amazon.

The very high quality of my PCR (75D) easily convinced me of the superb Czech quality of the VZ-58 rifle, imported by Czechpoin

roval/Terry G: It always surprises me that CZs are not better-known all over the US.

I have a friend who always shoots (only) SA on my DA/SA guns before trying them out.
This DA/SA feature and their weight might help explain why 75s, 75Ds didn't sell quicker in Normal years?

I had never heard of CZ until 2001 and I had been a Firearms Instructor and was in on the 9MM testing for the Federal DOJ when they were deciding on a firearm. I saw CZ82's advertised in Shotgun News and since I had an 03 license I ordered one. When I received it my first thought was it was brand new. Close, it did have faint rack marks. Then I thought "By God, they cheated me! No rifling in the barrel." Luckily I researched polygon rifling before I made a fool of myself complaining. The first magazine of 12 went into center mass from 25 yards. FMJ Russian stuff. I did a little checking around and found CZ civilian models were around and no one had anything bad to say about them except they were pricey. I though if a surplus Military pistol shoot's this good what will a civilian pistol do in 9X19 MM? I found a dealer that had a CZ P-01 in stock and the rest is history as they say. One thing that I noticed is that CZ's tend to be priced higher than most contemporary pistols. I think their worth it. (I ended up buying six more CZ 82's) IMG_1626.JPG IMG_1296.JPG

This thread is giving me bad ideas of stopping by the LGS today. I have always found CZs to be gorgeous guns, I even like the looks of the more modern striker versions.

I dont need another gun, but I actually have a hole in my brace of arms with no double stack 9mm.

Like I said above, I have 2
On the matter of price - they won't get any cheaper but there are, or used to be bargains out there. My compact was $465 in 08 at a gun show from an old dealer going out of business.
My full size 75 B was from a young sailor in Norfolk who
Needed money. The gun was in terrible shape. No grips and filthy, living in the trunk of his car. This was 2010 he wants $500. I said $300 cash right now and we settled on $350. E-4's gonna E - 4:evil:
On the matter of trigger.
As little work and 1000 dry fires - smothering it right up.

it may even be worse in recognition in that a lot of czs sold probably do not go to owners new to the brand but rather to previous owners. it's the most common brand in my gun safe.( 7 pistols and 1 22 lr rifle).

btw there was also a cz P07.i didn't look at the price but it would have been this lgs regular decent price. i didn't pay too much attention to the price as I am not too interested in the p07 for some reason.

Nature Boy was correct, there were no glocks left.

The Tri-Star pistols seem to be well made! I recently read that the are no longer importing the alloy framed models. Does anyone know if that is true?
