I also bought one on impulse at Cabela's. I threw on a Nikon Buckmaster 6-18x40 with the target turrets. I can easily get a consistent .5 MOA at 200 yards. I have gotten as good as .25 MOA. (albeit not often) I think this rifle has a wonderful feel and fits me very well.

Enjoy!

Savage Choate from Cabela's

I probably seen the same ad you did. I got this rifle chambered in .223, added a Nikon M-223 scope on Leupold rings and a Harris bipod. Purely a bench rifle because of the weight but I do like shooting it. So far I've only had it to the local indoor range which doesn't even come close to challenging this rifle. It really needs 100+ yards to shine. either way I know this rifle will be more accurate than I ever could be.
