I bought two airline tickets today to bring Mason back there for squirrel hunting and fisher trapping. October 18th to November 2nd.
Could of bought my 350 legend with that money but giving Mason life long memories is way more important.
He loves going back there to hunt.

My Pennsylvania hunting license came in the mail today and I sent the anterless deer application in the mail to the Susquehanna County Clerks office.

Got a chuck today with my Beeman air rifle. Darned thing was in the foundation of my house, took a kneeling position at 20 ft shooting into a darkened background. Stuck his head out and hit him in the eye. Don't know how I made that shot because I couldn't see my sights very well.

I'll get my first for 3m for down here then see what ones would be best for up there, really hope to put a few in the freezer this season with the cost of meat and all.

They have been selling them since the 1st of August.
We have four 7R,
A 7S
And two 7M.

A friend and his girlfriend are coming out to hunt for two weeks.

Jim and I have our Pennsylvania hunting licenses and four doe tags.
We will be hunting on a farm we use to hunt on twenty plus years ago.

They never run out of 8H or 8J either. I got two for 8h this year on top of the either sex tag I have for bow season.

Doe tags are not first come first serve in NY. They run a lottery system and set the probability of getting a tag based on the number of tags they want to issue in each WMU and the number of hunters that will “apply@ for each unit. You have the same chance of getting a tag on the last day (9/30) as the first day (8/1).

My phone doesn’t want to download the pdf file right now, but just google “ny dmp probability 2022” and you find the probabilities by unit. I hunt primarily 9T which is usually Landowner/Disabled vets only for first choice and no chance for second choice. Some years you’ll get a doe tag with preference pints but it usually takes at least three points. I own land there so I get a tag every year. My FIL gets one every three or four years.

I also hunt 8H which is the other end of the spectrum. They can never give out enough tags so you can get more beginning in November.

So I always get 9T &8H then get two more 8H in November.

My property is on 9T. I hunt a friend’s property in 8H. Before I had my one property to maintain I helped him with his. Last several years I’ve been hunting his place less and less because I don’t have time to help him and I feel like I’m free-riding. He doesn’t seem to care but I do. Anyway, that property is near Victor (outer suburb of Rochester).

Is there much open places to hunt up there around Rochester?
We hunt mostly broome & Chenango counties and have a lot of open properties to hunt on plus state game lands.

Well things are shaping up for my new deer hunting rifle. I picked up a single-shot Traditions 350 Legend. My brother-in-law gave me his Nikon Prostaff 2.5 to 10 power scope that will be installed on that rifle. Aireline tickets are all bought, hunting licenses and trapping license and doe tags are all bought..

Just need to buy some new ammo and a set of RCBS 350 legend dies and bullets and I'm all good to go.
I did order a new Havalon Barracuda knife to gut the deer out with. It was supposed to of been delivered yesterday, but got delayed.
I love the Havalon changeable blade knives.

I've been busy doing firewood, going in the morning to get my license before I forget again. Been lots of squirrels around so maybe I'll get out for some soon. Probably have been seeing 40-50 deer each day, there all over and some nice bucks. The one farm near I hunt basicly lost there whole soy bean crop from the drought this summer. It doesn't look to even be worth the time to try and pick any so it will just be left in the field. So deer should have some food later this winter.

Dna on a coyote shot last year said it was wolf dna, I have to find the email I didn't read it yet. I figured they did, we get ones every year close of over 100 pounds.

Yep, there are public lands to hunt up here, but not a lot. Certainly not enough for the number hunters, in my opinion. I’ve been lucky enough to never need to hunt public land.

Got my license and doe tags today, I need to load up some ammo for a few guns. Was hoping to have that 6arc in building finished for deer season but may not, I'm trying to save up and buy the rest I need on black Friday. My barrel was supposed to be here this week but they sent it to the wrong address some maybe next week.
