New York hunters

A head or face net covering is the best money you can spend. Others have more years, burmt I’ve been hu ti g nearly 20 years. 2 years ago I started wearing my turkey hunting head net for deer and it is a game changer. 15 yards away, looking directly at me - I don’t move and they go back to eating. Prior years, they look at my face and they r long gone

ETA: sorry for the typos. Typing on my phone
I've noticed the same thing!

I placed a two week ad in a shopper looking for places to trap coyotes. We got a response from an older gentleman who owns three - 200 acre plus pieces of property that he wants cleaned up on woodshed to start then go from there. We will be meeting up with him after I get back on the 18th. If all goes good it might open it up for deer hunting.
The properties are in Greene, Plymouth and over by Pitcher.

Maybe nice trying to call some dogs in, this 6mmarc will make a nice varmint gun.

Stewart is the first piece of state land to hunting for the city hunters coming up, when I say guys 10 feet apart that's not a joke. Orange county for some reason has little public land to hunt other then the 1500 acres close to me and some by the bashakill there's is none.
I never hunted Stewart when I lived in the city, but I did hunt Sterling Forest when it was privately owned and you had to buy a permit.

It wasn't crowded, and I was successful there a few times. Maybe the required permit purchase kept people out, but it wasn't expensive.

Thirty plus years ago up in Broome & Delaware counties you couldn't find a place to park at the state game lands, now you have them almost to yourself. Things sure has changed since back in the day.

I only tried calling fox & coyote a couple of times with no success about fifteen years ago.
We should do better at trapping this years. We have more equipment, baits & lures and we will focus more upon it.

We should have some extra furs once we get it going.

We started looking for deer about half the way to harpursville and seen 22 deer in small two to three deer groups. Plus we seen five gray squirrels close to the edge of the woods in fields close to the road.
We will be out early in the morning to go squirrel hunting. We will have a busy week squirrel hunting, doing trap prep , acquiring private land to trap and hunt on and doing some museum trips.
Mason will be using an old 20 gauge Ithaca model 66.

consistent. How goes your squirrel hunting and trapping. I'm work I'm tomorrow (again) have to go to bills Sunday, his wife passed last week. I'll be pretty busy all weekend, will be taking the 280 ai in to work though, have to bend the bolt handle, need the acetylene torch and vise.

Our two week trip went by really fast.
We did some squirrel hunting as usual.
Mason did get his first turkey.
The trapping was really slow. No fishers but we did get a 20 pound boar coon and a male skunk.
We left most of the leg hold traps out and Jim has been checking them. Only another small coon in the same trap that caught the larger coon.
When I get back there next week we will set more traps set out.
We have a basic hunt camp set up for friends and his other half over in afton over by Mellony road.
We be playing cards if any want to come to the camp to play cards and shoot the crap.
We can discuss that in PMs.
I'll be staying at my brother's place most of the time. When they come back to Washington I might stay at the hunting camp a few nights.
It won't be long and we will be out deer hunting again.

I nearly hit an 8 point crossing rt 11 near state line. Been seeing quite a few in my travels. Saturday evening there was a large fie lying dead in the middle of the south bound lane of rt 206 half way between Walton and Bainbridge. Had to swerve arround it.
