New York hunters

It's been kind of quiet on this thread.

Any thing happening for you guys?.

I've been looking for airline tickets for deer hunting next November and got a great deal on my tickets.
$258 round trip.
I'll be there for a month again. .I'm still looking for a piece of property for a hunting camp.
Something will come up sooner or later.

Not been up to much, I finished that 6mm arc ar-15 I've been working on forever, looks to be shooting good but need more range time were in not rushed. Need to get some dies and maybe grab some more ammo to. I joined the gun club in Oneonta, they have 200 yards but hope by end of summer to have the 500 yard finished.

May pickup a new scope for my 6.5 prc to play with some of the farther ranges.

The Greene Rod & Gun Club has a 500 yard range. On Tuesdays they do a breakfast at 9am. You can hook up with Jim and hit it up.

The deer should be dropping the fawns.
Building rifles take time and money.
Right now I don't have the money.

How would that work out for all of us working stiffs. Still trudging along in the shop. Hard to fix family members cars 4 Saturdays in a row, but it's okay that's what family is for.

Been really busy working, family obligations, and upkeep on house cars.... haven't even gotten out to shoot at all. I did get out yesterday to see your dad troy, we hung out for about 3 hours or so.

Pat I had a mishap with my phone and lost all my data, contacts, messages and most of my pics. Number is still the same just can't get ahold of anyone.

Well picked up a 22 lr today for that old weaver b6 scope I picked up this week. Did some trading and only cash in this gun is $20 for the scope. The weaver is unsealed so I took it mostly apart except the turrets and reticle, is quite a clear scope now especially for a 3/4" tube they don't let much light in anyways .

Crap picture it's very overcast today and lights in the house suck as bad as my camera lol.
This is a Glenfield model 25, they were the economy line of marlin. Think this one is a 1974, it is a birch stock that was painted with textured paint and I actually like it so I'll leave it.

This should make for a nice squirrel rifle the old Marlins shoot very good.

Nice old Marlin and scope!

I had a Marlin 80DL bolt action with a removable magazine and adjustable peep sight as a kid.

Did quite well doing NRA jr. target shooting. Just wish I’d known triggers could be worked on since its trigger pull was quite gritty and heavy.

Good luck with your new gun!

The trigger on this one isn't to bad, a little travel but not much. Looks easy to tune of needed.

Nice score there Troy.
You gotta love them old bolt action rifles
Fifty years ago I liked the mossbergs.
That's all I used for squirrel hunting.
What ammo do you like?

Whatever shoots good lol, I like those velositors cci or mini mags but for squirrels it doesn't matter much what you hit them with on head shots.

Take a day off and go enjoy yourself.

I occasionally take tays off in the summer to take Mason out shooting during the week.

Life is to short to not take time for yourself.

Too many mouths to feed, clothe, and keep a warm roof over their heads. I get 1.5 days off any more than that the ends don't meet. If I take a day off I do t get paid for it.

Heaven forbid if I don't get to the bank Friday before it closes and my wife deposits my check. I always end up spending more than was deposited for" household needs" just can't break even for losing.

AMEN! Like I tell my grown kids who are working themselves to death, time is more important than money.

I do find time a couple of hours a week to shoot or drive out to see Troy's dad, often times it's not enough.

I cut back on money going out. Get by with less and get some enjoyment.
That's why I take a month off for deer hunting back there.
Every day that goes by is a day closer to the hole in the ground.

They want them reintroduced but not in their back yard.
They Have been seeing a couple of them where we go shooting.
I took my step daughter two grandkidsing there today. We just got back home.
First time the 5 year old granddaughter shot a gun.

Nice! Looks like big brother is giving her a hand.

No I was working as I will be all week. Yesterday was rainy with brief periods of sun, real brief, it came down pretty hard at times.
