Went to the range today for a few hours, wish I had more time I like going by myself so I'm not rushed. Just shot at like 30 yards, did not feel like caring the target stand out farther since the dolly wasn't there. Brought my old Rossi 62a to just mess with, shot maybe 75 rounds about 5-6 mag tubes and some slamfiring lol. Other was that old marlin 25 with the weaver b6 scope I put together, had some problems at first it was hitting way low but I didn't know that at first. They were all vertical like 18" high I think somehow they were hitting the ground and bouncing , that target stand was a low one. I adjusted like two full turns up then hit like 4" low on the paper then got it sighted in. Shot like 7 different loads all were around 1 /2" if I did my part. Happy the mini mags and the velositors shot good, some hollow points it didn't feed well some times I may just have to tune the mag latch some.
Last was that 3006 pre 64 model 70 winchester barreled action I got this winter. I just put it in my m70 270 stock and used its bottom metal and follower for now, hope to find a stock one day I can afford. My try modding a long action push feed m70 stock, there cheap enough to try one. The barrel has a bad pitting spot in the middle and don't really plan on keeping the barrel tho prices are pretty high for a new barrel now. Just had the sights, didn't tell like putting a scope on just to pull it off again. I couldn't get a good sight picture, think it's easier a 100 then 25. Shots hit 3" left and perfect elevation. Just need to drift the rear sight some. Not very good group of like 9 rounds were 2-3" but I know it's because I couldn't get a good consistent picture. But the main reason for shooting it I just wanted to test the gun out before putting money into it. One day I'll pull the barrel hope that goes well I think I need to make a action wrench.
I'm happy with the marlin it should make a nice squirrel gun this fall and it's sighted in for them woodchucks in the yard. Very happy how clear that old weaver 3/4" tube scope came out, should be a good power for head shoots up in the trees. Gun didn't like the 60grain agilias, had a few left and figured try some but they tumble. Only had two guns shot them well a 10-22 I built years ago and my old rem model 33 it must have a faster twist the 1-16" . Gun didn't like cb longs .uch, they were 3" low as expected but we're kinda random into 1.5" group, stupid quiet tho.
