Nothing really against them but I'm an all steel and hammer gun fan. I have owned over a half dozen Poly guns but never really did anything for me. I'm done to three classics in my opinion. Beretta 92FS Compact, Sig Sauer P229 Nitron Compact, and a newly acquired CZ P75D PCR. Maybe I'm just getting old and Glocks, although great guns, should be left to the younger! image_5426.jpg

Did you know that the three guns in your picture and the original Glock 17 were all introduced within less than ten years of each other? The Sig 229 is actually a newer design than the Glock, by a couple years. Not that it matters, really. You're welcome to your preferences of course. Just thought it was worth pointing out that the Glock isn't any more "modern" than the other pistols you mention.

More power to you, Brother. The gun in your trio I’m most curious of is that CZ. How do you like it?
To be honest, all three perform about the same. I have less trigger time with the CZ, only two boxes so far. The feel and ergonomics of the CZ are the best of the three. Not a good answer but to me it's a three-way tie!

As for a 1911, I've owned two back some years ago, a Colt and a Kimber. Absolute classics but I only collect and shoot 9mm. A 1911 in 9mm is a mortal sin! Now a pristine Hi-Power is another story!

Very nice choices, but not quite all steel -- it looks like you're more a fan of aluminum alloy lowers with steel uppers. And that's all good!

Funny, i`m very old and i went the other way, all polymer. Carrying all metal guns just became to much of an issue with me due to the weight of them. Its nice to have bigger choices that we didnt have that long ago.
The Beretta 92, Sig 226 (from which the 229 was derived), the CZ 75, and the Glock 17 were all designed/entered production between 1975 and 1985. They've all been options for very nearly the same amount of time, with the Sig being the newest.

Heavy all steel guns are fun to [SHOOT] but hang one on your belt for 6 hrs a day for day in day out carry and you’ll understand why plastic is the industry standard.

FTFY. :p The niceness of steel guns is in the shooting. You're quite correct that, if a gun is being bought to be wagged around all day, and shot hopefully-never, then polymer has a lot going for it.

Metal striker fired guns are great for the range!!!! But they have a lot of extra bulk and weight if you are going to conceal carry them!

I love my 1911's, Beretta 92 and other great hammer fired guns. I don't know how cops used to lug around Beretta 92's on their belt all day. If I had to lug around a 92 for 8 to 10 hours a day I would love Glocks too! (I don't care for Glocks!). Even my CZ 75D compact is a lot more weight and bulk than I want to carry.

Only one of those is steel. I like the classic steel framed guns as much as anyone. But aluminum alloy turns me off worse than plastic.

The "modern" striker gun is a solution to a problem that nobody needed to ask.

We stopped using exposed hammers on rifles and shotguns well over 100 years ago. The most reliable long guns all use striker fired systems (bolt rifles and double barreled shotguns). The better question is why did it take so long to understand striker fired was a much better system for handguns?

Most handguns made today are drop safe as they are carried a lot. Most long guns are not. That may have something to do with it. Seeing a hammer and knowing it’s condition makes a difference with a lot of people. I could be way off. I am just glad we have all the choices today. It’s a good time to be a gun owner.

Nothing wrong with any of your three "partially" steel and hammer guns. All of them make for a fine choice in a 9mm.

Definitely should consider getting a Browning Hi-Power though to round out your collection!

A few more steel and hammer classics!
