This NY Times article, yes, the Times again, is listening to the complaints from upstaters about the Safe Act. For some reason, the Times is really picking up on the nuances of the Safe Act in NYS.

It chronicles the displeasure of upstaters with Cuomo in particular, and their acts attempting to reverse the law. It speaks of upstate towns and counties issuing statements castigating the Safe Act.

Another well balanced piece from the Times.

Here's the article: http://www.nytimes.com/2014/10/25/n...-new-york-constituency.html?ref=nyregion&_r=0

I've always felt sorry for up-state New Yorkers and down-state Illini. They've both got hellacious crosses to bear.

NY would be a nice place to live if it broke into 2 states. I think PA would be the same way if Philly was a great deal bigger.

That is the gospel truth. If we could only find a way to put those two pieces together!

Combine NYC, Philadelphia, and NJ into one state and PA and the rest of NY into another state. Westchester can choose.

GREAT IDEA !!.
got my vote !.
NOW just need to get it on a ballot and see how it goes.
We in the "rest" of the state of NY own the water, food AND power that the city needs.
I see us having the best of it.

Actually... it's only about four counties of NJ that need to go.

Maybe 5 to be safe. That northeast corner from Union to Passaic. Eliminate them and over time, perhaps a healthy, moderate New Jersey would bloom. Sadly, there is no way. :(

I still love my birth state. It has some wonderful attributes. Cape May,the Pine Barrens, the great beaches and fine farms . But politically and morally, it's been a corrupt cesspool since before we became a country in 1776. :scrutiny:

I am a Long Islander, and am in the local minority here. My family, friends, co-workers and associates have not been successful in our voting efforts in years. I am hoping that will change this year, but will probably be unsuccessful again....

Socialist New Philajersyork?

How about New Philajerk?

Bloomers could be governor and Christie could be Lt. Gov.
Sandra Watts could be press secretary.
Kamala Harris and Lisa Madigan could have a cat fight to decide who the AG is.

The Free State of Henry (or Jefferson, Franklin, Adams, Revere , et. al.) constitutes the rest and be the new Constitution State, since CT doesn't seem to need that nickname anymore.
