I am purchasing an Olympic arms carbine. It has forward assist and a dust cover like I wanted. It is a flat top upper receiver. I would like to hear personal reviews of other owners on how well this brand performs. I plan on using it for the range and maybe for hunting.
I know this is no $2k AR but at $729 shipped I went ahead and got it.
Any negative reviews should be first hand only please.

Don't own one myself, but had some experience with one my buddy has. It has several thousand rds downrange with no problems that couldn't be traced to cheap ammo or a faulty mag. I think the average AR owner will be pleased with the Olys of today. If you happen to be LE or something I'd go with something else, but for my purposes I'd buy Oly in a second. I think their bad rep stems from problems in their early days.

I had one in the late 90's and it ran great. My buddy got a plinker in 2003 and the lower came apart at buffer threads and they replaced it without fuss.

I have the cheaper "plinker" model that I bought years ago. I also have a Colt LE6920. Love the Colt, because it's a Colt, but beyond that I don't see any real difference. The Oly sees a lot more abuse, since it was cheaper. It has many thousands of rounds through it, including many long bouts of bump-firing for fun. Never had a single problem of any sort with it.

I had a couple older ones they were junk. I heard the new ones were better guns. I had the oportunity last fall to shoot a 2o in heavy barreled new gun and it ran flawlusly and shot 3/4 inch groups with factory ammo. I was impressed.

Most of the bad reviews you see are of the older cast lowers. I have an oly lower on a custom build and I am happy with it.

I have an oly K8 and love it. Gets shot 3-1 to my bushmaster. I also just sold a oly 243wssm that I loved just didn't need. I wouldn't hesstate to buy another

No problems with an older Oly lower that I picked up many years ago. A buddy of mine has one of the low priced carbines that they made right before the AWB. Thousands of rounds down range and the only problems with it could be traced directly to poorly manufactured ammo.

Oly's may work ok, but with PSA in the same price point, there's not even a second thought. No point in buying low end AR's when good quality is the SAME price.

I have an Oly K16 that I purchased about 6 years ago. With the exception of a small cosmetic issue I haven't experienced any issues with it.

It seems as though the majority of problems came from super increased production of rifles right before the ban wet into effect, and right before it expired.

It seems that warranty is better and qc is also better now. I jumped on this because it was available and not jacked up in price.

Unfortunately people around here have things like 80% lowers for $195, so I took what I could get.

I will post an honest range report agent I get the rifle hopefully at the end of the week. Thanks for the opinions.

I had a K3B, just a basic one, but there their super cheap plinker. I never had any issues with it, in fact it ate ammo my nicer S&W M&P15T REFUSED to. I sold it during the height of the Great Gun Crisis of 2013, because I wasn't that attached to it. Replaced it with an Armalite a month later for $1250 less than I sold the Olympic for.
