Pistol - My XD-45LE (.45GAP)

Shotgun - Mossberg 500, got one of those too.

Rifle - That's the only one I don't have. If I had to only have one, I think I would like a Savage Bolt action in .308. That is my next purchase though.

Berreta 92FS --Strictly short range

Mossberg 500 -- range variable depending on load, w/ slugs up to 100 yards

Any high-powered rifle, with a good scope for ranges beyond 100 yards...any medium sized round from .270 on up. Variable scope up to 24x for the occasional REALLY long shot.

Pistol: XD9 9mm, 16rd mags x 5 (Got it, only 3 mags so far)
Rifle: Springfield Armory M1A 18" scout, 20rd mags x 10 (Got it, only 4x20rd mags so far)
Shotgun: Stoeger SxS 12guage coach gun, 20" barrels (On "the short list")

Never really got into shotguns, but I don't see it jamming if it doesn't have a magazine at all!

Handgun-This is a hard one, but I'd say Browning HP in .40 S&W
Shotgun-SPAS-12, I don't hunt and this should make a decent home-defense gun
Rifle-If I go with something I own, either an M1 or a No.4 Mk.2 L-E. If I go with something that I really want, but can't find/afford, then it would be a FA-MAS

(1) Semi-Auto AK-47, a Yugo/Serbian model perhaps.

(2) Remington 870 18 in barrel 12ga.

(3) Browning Hi-Power 9mm

S&W .45 SC 1911 6 mags
RRA A4 Varmint model .223 6 mags
Most likely the shotgun will be an 870 variant :what:

Based on what I own:

As I see myself, equipped for Armageddon / marching into Tehran:
M1A
Glock 17C
FN Police 12ga

More like reality:
WASR-10
Ruger Security Six .357
Ithaca Model 37

Rifle - M14
Pistol - 5" all steel 1911
Shotgun - Rem. 870

This is too easy,
A .357 Magnum revolver because I can create powerful cartridges with lead, any useable powder, and sulfer/phosphorous match heads.
A .45/70 rifle of any form for the same reason.
A 12 guage over/under or side by side for the same reason.

what would I buy?

Handgun - S&W 686 - it is a 357 MAGNUM
Shotgun - Rem 870 with extended mag
Rifle - Rem 700 Bolt action with a kick ass Nikon scope and/or Bushmaster AR15 with an A2/A3 upper.

My Glock 17

A "in the mail to FFL" F&N Pump Police 12g (pick up a 26" bl if possible)

& a M1a w/ nice scope (next on my list)

Handguns to carry to the long guns

J Frame its never too big and its always big enough.
Any decent pump 12 with extra chokes. Mines a M-37
Rifle anything 7MM or better.

I have the pistol; HK USP fullsize 45 auto.
Shotgun: Stoeger Coach Gun Supreme dbl 12 w/ intng chokes.
Rifle: Socom M1A

Ah, why not.

Handgun: CZ-75B SA (and a Kadet kit to go with :D)
Shotgun: Mossberg 590
Rifle: FAL, in .260 (assuming arbitrarily plentiful ammo)

Am I the only one who hears John Lee Hooker singing "One Scotch, One Burboun and One Beer"?

Feeling a Bit Traditional

I'm actually gonna cheat a bit.

I'm the oddball with no shotgun nor experience with one.

Sorry, but I'm going with a second rifle.

Sidearm: S&W 586-7 (.357 x 7) +speedloaders
Main Rifle: Marlin 336C in .30-30
Rifle #2: Marlin 1894C in .357

Reasoning:
  • Although no context was given, I have to assume some kind of scenario. I'm going with some kind of event that would, among other things, render ammo scarce.
  • .357 revolver: utterly reliable, wide range of loads, can be used for SD or hunting, reloadable should the need arise.
  • .30-30 rifle: mechanical simplicity, reliability, fine for SD, born for hunting, wide availability of ammo, wide range of loads, reloadable.
  • .357 carbine: companion for the revolver (common ammo), reliable (that word again), useful for small and medium -- even large -- game.
  • I contemplated a .223 rifle, but while it's okay for social work and smallish game, it's not as reliable for tipping Bambi over. I hate to give up the high rate of fire, and in a more narrowly defined scenario I might be persuaded.
  • Also gave some thought to a companion set in another pistol calibre (like 9mm or .40 cal) but, again, trading hitting power for firepower assumes "urban combat" scenarios, and "urban" is not in my plans. A narrower scenario might skew my decision that way, though.
  • Although it's not very sporting, I'm pretty sure that with a bit of practice I could bag waterfowl with a carbine. I used to do chickens with a pellet gun (head shots), so it's not out of the question.
  • With a little more of a contrived set of assumptions, the .30-30 might well be replaced with a good .22 LR rifle, the Ruger 10/22 comes to mind, although I'd prefer the Marlin 39A if I could lay hands on one.
However, given the lack of parameters, my imagination invents its own boogie men, and the result is above.

I already have them!

My PX4 in 9x19 for the handgun, my Mossberg 590 in 12 ga. for the shotgun, and my AR-15 in 5.56x45 for my rifle. There you have it: The three most common calibers in this hemisphere out of three very fine guns.

Am I the only one who hears John Lee Hooker singing "One Scotch, One Burboun and One Beer"?

I was going to make that comment, too!

(But it was "One bourbon, one scotch, one beer." </nitpick> )
