What's a BBQ rig?Now I need to get a BBQ RIG to wear.
Whenever I wear my shoulder holster under an open jacket, it's still very concealed.I'm working on my BBQ rig. I can't decide between a true outside strongside belt holster or a cross draw shoulder rig under an open coat that discretely minimizes but doesn't hide the fact that I am open carrying. Maybe that way the average gunphobic citizen won't call the law in a panic. Regardless, I plan to have my ducks in a row to minimize verbal interaction with law enforcement by having my CHL and DL, etc. on a lanyard around my neck in view for easy reference.
What would invite a discussion? The gun under a jacket or the hokey badge? I think he was joking about the badge.HH
That's very cool, but I'm afraid it would invite an extended discussion with LE, especially in Austin. It will take a while for the LE industry to get used to. Remember OC of handguns in public has been banned in Texas for 145 years.
so now there will be 411.204 signs instead of 30.06 signs?
it also looks like they just took the CHL regulations and took out the word concealed and just replaced it with handgun.
The change in the law will invite more casual concealment providing unobstructed access to the holstered handgun. Open carry should be legal but it does seem desirable to wear the arm in such a way that the disinterested observer is less likely to see it. I've noticed that potential predators are hyper alert to weapons and notice guns that are pretty well concealed. Going in less traveled areas- rural or urban might be appropriate places for visible handguns. A deeply wooded "trail" in a local park located near a high -crime area comes to mind. Parading in public with a highly visible rig is unlikely to favorably impress anybody. The whinies are going to go faint and the other gun owners will just be envious if your gun is bigger or prettier than theirs. An amazing number of the smart-phone fondlers are not going to be aware that open carry has become legal until they begin to see it in practice and Dial! 911 ! in a sick panic.. Since many are oblivious to anything not on the screen of their electronic nanny, that might go on for years. My brother lives near Tyler and he's of the same mindset as me - no use for OC because he'd rather keep it hidden and a secret. But he's relieved that he doesn't have to worry anymore about accidental exposure or printing.
