I went to Owensboro,Ky this sat. to a Gun shop I go to about 6 times a year. I live about 100 miles from Whittakers Gun Shop. I have been shopping there for years, It is the largest gun shop in Ky.I have never seen this many people on a sat. What was scary to me most of the people there buying had never owned a firearm. I had several people ask me about a rifle or pistol they wanted. I had one guy holding a shot gun and ask me if this would protect him and wanted to know want Caliber it was!!! I had no problem buying and looking at the lever action rifles. The sales lady at the counter told me for the past 2 weeks they have been working 10 to 12 hr days.I asked her do you think this is a little nuts. She said this is not the way I like to sell firearms, most of the people in here are panic shopping and dont have a clue what they are purchasing.

It's nationwide. I call it a feeding frenzy style of behavior.

Last year, 16.5 million NICS checks. This year, 21 million with a week to go.

Since Clinton began his yapping about assault weapons, there have been right at 190 million guns sold in the US.

I went out with a buddy last night(against my better judgement) to one of the largest shops in CT, it was 2 hours before closing, the place was mobbed. All the staff look like they were run over by freight trains and as we stood at the counter none would even make eye contact, I'm sure they were afraid to get one more question or request... My friend went to buy an LCR and the store had three left. As it turned out they also had the Ruger 10/22TD on sale for $299 with a couple left in stock, we'll we just couldn't say no ....We got out the door right at closing. So, 2 hours to walk in go directly to the counter and purchase 3 firearms without any extra, shopping, questions or fooling around...and this was the low point of the weekend for the store....

On another note....The 10/22TD is very neat, it was worth a 2 hour wait and dragging myself out :)

hunley I visit whittakers about 1 or 2 times a year, man you can spend some time in that place they have tons of guns, I was told they are getting empty with all this panic buying going on is it true? BTW do you live closer to louisville or south of owensboro, I live in southern indiana takes me like 1hr and 30 minutes or a hair longer to get to whittakers.

Same is true up here in North Idaho. I work in a gun shop/indoor range and it has been absolutely nuts lately. The fear based buying is in full swing. All our AR-15 rifles are gone, as well as the magazines for them. Most of the Glocks are cleaned out and the .22 pistol case is empty. I picked up my Ruger 10/22 a couple of weeks ago while they were still available.

Since Clinton began his yapping about assault weapons
When Clinton started yapping about "assault weapons", AK's were selling for around $150, SKS's were selling for around $80 here in Bama. Prices nearly doubled shortly afterwards, and have never gone back down appreciably.

It's human nature, the more they say you can't have it, the more you want it.

Clinton sold more AR's, AK's, and SKS's than all the gun shops together prior to that. He brought national attention to cheap guns with cheap ammo that were fun to shoot, and then threatened to ban them. Millions found out what fun they were.

There's a guy that has a web page called "mad ogre" an who is a gun dealer at a sizable gun shop in Utah. he posted the other day that it was his busiest day ever! It's a panic, that's all.

This too shall pass. But in the mean time, where the heck can I get a Vulcan cannon?!
