I have used AA#5 and Silhouette with many different plated bullets and have just recently start loading with cast. I have a 45acp load waiting right now that has AA#5 in it.

From my experience the AA#5, Silhouette and True Blue are all very similar with much overlap. I gave up on the AA#5 as I can create the same load with the Silhouette and still use a bit less powder. Also the Silhouette is suppressed so because I shoot a lot indoors there is basically no flash and smoke is reduced greatly.

I have also started using a lot of AA#2 and as you state I find a good supply of Western Powders in this area.

Out of the 5 you listed for the vel you are after I would say ZIP, if you want more vel then Silhouette
But I haven't used AA#5 or #7

#7 is great for all 9mm needs, use it all the time, 6.4 grains for cast loads. I also am very fond of Bullseye 4 grains. All under the Lee 124 grain home cast bullets powder coated.

I didn't like #5 in the .45 at all. I went to #2 about 15 years ago. It's more economical, shoots softer and makes major without even pushing it. Just for informational purposes, my pet load is a 200gr LSWC over about 5.5gr of #2. Good shooting round. This is the one that I can hit a 12" gong at 100 yards with. I can hit it often enough to make you believe that it isn't a fluke.

Tony, yeas as I stated previously I have pretty much given up on AA#5 in favor of AA#2 and Silhouette. I don't have my log book in front of me but as I recall between those two powders I can make the same load with Silhouette and use .5gr or more LESS powder to achieve the speeds. I think it also burns a bit cleaner than #5.

I did just load some newly cast 225gr RN with the AA#5 because I have about 1/2 lb. left and wanted to use it up.

From the limited choices, I'd vote Silhouette. It's basically the same as the discontinued Winchester Action Pistol (WAP). But if you're just plinking, anything on the list would be fine I guess. Personally, I'd stay with Sport Pistol for coated bullets. But availability seems to be driving factor right now.
