9mm target powder choice 124gr lcn

trip to my local sportsmans and see what they have in stock
FYI ... 125 gr Lead load data - https://reloadingdata.speer.com/downloads/speer/reloading-pdfs/handgun/9mm_Luger_125.pdf
  • W231/HP-38/Zip/Green Dot/W244 for Winchester white box range accuracy
  • Bullseye/TiteGroup/WST/N320/Sport Pistol/No. 2/Clean Shot for more accurate 9mm loads
  • Promo/Red Dot for cheaper 9mm loads
FWIW, if I was powder shopping for "Target 9mm LEAD RN/SWC", I would look with following priority:
  1. W231/HP-38 as it meters well and produce accurate lead loads with plenty of available load data
  2. Zip is very comparable to W231/HP-38
  3. Bullseye as it meters well and produce more accurate lead loads with plenty of available load data
  4. No 2/Clean Shot as many bullseye match shooters like it and meters well (I already bought some) - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.p...-oal-consistency.911743/page-15#post-12482601
  5. Red Dot/Promo as it produces good accuracy (Promo meters as well as W231/HP-38 for me) and I can use Red Dot load data for Promo and good powder for my PCC loads
  6. N320/Sport Pistol as USPSA 9mm minor PF load powder choice and Sport Pistol is like N320 that meters well, burns cleaner but cheaper - https://uspsa.org/magazine/view//2021-00#page=42
  7. Titegroup ... While it burns hot and violent, won't be much issue at lead "target" velocities, meters well, more accurate than W231/HP-38 and I can warm my hands on the hot slide if my hands get cold.:D
  8. WST meters well and produced smallest groups for me only followed by BE-86 - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.p...er-target-published-load-data-for-9mm.870180/
  9. Vectan Ba 9.5 as it is shorter cut extruded powder than N320 and produces good accuracy - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.p...ectan-ba-9-5-ba-9.817796/page-2#post-10519646
  10. W244/Green Dot only if no other powders were available as Green Dot don't meter as well and accuracy is worse. And W244 is slightly slower burning than W231/HP-38 and you wanted "target" powder that will burn efficiently at slower velocities.
  11. Herco ... Worked for 9mm for me - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.php?threads/9mm-and-herco-for-jacketed-lead-plated-bullets.745656/
  12. 700-X meters like corn flakes but produces good accuracy

Of those in the poll... HS-6 was your best choice, but at true "target" velocities it's a very dirty powder.

For 9mm loads right around 1020fps, I greatly prefer N320, N330 or Sport Pistol.
