Every time I see footage of Marines over there on TV, my wife changes the channel because it depresses me. I don't agree with the war, but when I see my brothers over there, it disturbs me greatly that I'm not there with them. It's got nothing to do with politics. It has everything to do with Marines in harm's way, and I'm here COTUS instead of there with you.

I can relate. I was fine until they showed the destroyed AAV in 2006. Since then I'm the same as you.

You are where you are assigned. No guilt. I spent my days of the Viet Nam war (no, I DIDN'T want to go there) stationed in California. No guilt.

Amen to that. Except I'm an Army guy and to old and out of shape to get back in.

Glad to see that I'm not the only old, out of shape (well, round IS a shape) former soldier that feels this way.

I'm here now, and it just keeps getting hotter.

These are some of my recent ones.

I had the pleasure of meeting with LeadCounsel at Camp Striker right after the Heller decision was announced. Glad to say the Army is is proudly represented by men like him. I am home after 16 months and will be back in Baghdad in March, working on my fifth year of deployment.

Never trust an officer with a map.

Never trust an officer with a map: I said that back in 1971 up around the Fulda Gap. I was almost an International incident when he got us lost.

Heartfelt thank you all for your service, because of you guys & girls doing your duty I can still say I'm proud to be an American. Thank God for all of you and may He keep you safe.

Damn skippy.

I echo the sentiments of others who have posted here.

Please accept my heartfelt thanks for all those who have given their time and their blood so that people like me can enjoy this great country and life.

I wish I were there with you.
