i think if you are able to keep your vehicle moving, albeit slowly, a few things occur:
1. sensible people realize you are not stopping and won't stand in the way. if they get run over it most certainly won't be your fault if you are going like like 2-5 mph.
2. it shows that you were attempting to leave but not trying to run anyone over. a jury and even the D.A. can see that you cannot stop since you will ultimately be beated or killed by an angry mob if they gain access into your vehicle. it is a reasonable application of the car and they have a very difficult time proving to anybody that your vehicle was used as a weapon.
3. it shows you were reasonable, i.e., not attempting to "run over innocent protestors"
if you look at how CHP (California Highway Patrol) clears the Bay Bridge/Golden Gate bridge of protestors, they run a very slow moving vehicle convoy in a "wedge" position (like a V). they run side mirror to side mirror in a tight formation and go about 2 mph in a steady wedge, and they do NOT stop. they have foot patrol officers behind the "V" waiting to take any idiot into custody if they run over the top of the patrol car or otherwise get over the "V." not to mention the guy is severely outnumbered once he gets to the other side.
they can clear the entire bridge in a matter of minutes by doing this. that is CHP's technique used to "clear" the bridge and is not seen as a use of force, so if you're leaving slowly, remember, your car is probably insured, so let them destroy the car and just cruise slowly away if you can.
if they compromise the vehicle by gaining entrance, and if i am carrying a weapon, it would be a "lesser" use of deadly force to shoot the moron trying to break into your car vs. gunning it and running over people who are not involved in trying to enter the vehicle.
also i would think this would be a very good and LEGAL time to brandish your firearm so they dont think about entering the vehicle. a reasonable person would not be beating on your window if he sees you are armed with a pistol. and if he did break the window after he saw the pistol i think you'd have every reason to shoot him if he reached in to try to pull you out. a gunshot would probably make everyone scatter anyway.
