I think it's another wrinkle that might attract some buyers.
I know some j-frames are made in 3" varieties.
I'd love a 3" mod 60.
I'll settle for my 3" mod 10 I guess.
There's also the very popular 3" SP101, another Ruger!
It's not a large market, but there's definitely a niche for 3" 38's and 357.
I may consider one in 357 with the laser if it's an attractive price.

I like it. Reminds me of an old Rossi Model 88 I use to have that had a 3" barrel and a rear sight. Made for a nifty little upsized Kit Gun.

I dunno, I love the 3" J-frames, and it's not entirely ugly per se, but the shrunken cylinder looks a bit out of place on a larger gun. I would have strengthened the cylinder and just released it in .357.

The adjustable rear sights look a bit fragile, too.

That rear sight does look a little flimsy, but I have no reason to believe it is either.
One of the reasons I'm attracted to the mod 60 is that it's all steel to help with recoil. A 15oz 357 might be a bit of a hand full for me with full bore loads.

If they release that exact configuration in .22 lr or .22 mag, I reckon I'll have to get one.

It certainly would make a dandy little .22 trail gun, wouldn't it? Much lighter than the S&W counterparts. I'd like it in .22 magnum myself, but they should do a seven- or eight-shot cylinder.

This is definitely the truth.

I don't know. Adjustable sights, longer barrels and exposed hammers kinda ruin it for me. I think they got it right with the first lcr. The issue is more size than weight for a polymer revolver. Not that there are many 3" .38/.357s to choose from. I think an adjustable sight .22 kit gun would be the ticket on this platform.

For ccw then maybe a 3" fixed sight DAO or shrouded hammer .357 would be the right combination for me. If I carried a revolver.

I'm not really "gettin'" it.

Seems like a strange divergence from the intent of the LCR line.
As above, it reminds me of funky post-war European revolvers - though for me, this is not a good thing.

That snaggy and weak looking rear sight gives me the willies on a utility pistol.

Nope, seems to me to be a mis-step (rare these days) on Ruger's part. I predict serious incentives on these in the future.

Heck, to me it already looks like a .22lr. That the rear sight looks like it's begging to be snapped off, and what's with that overly huge ramp sight on the front? They seem to be trying to make a short-range SD pistol into a target shooter.
I could be wrong, but I ain't expecting to see these things flying off the shelves, not unless they get the price down to $299 .

Finally an LCR that I am interested in...right after I bought a 3" j frame. Ruger missed out on my business by about 2 months. If they do the same with the 9mm with 3" and hammer then I may have to buy one.

Ruger's answer to the Model 60 - I like it. Based on the weights of the other LCR variants, I'd guess the .357 version will come in at 19.3 ounces, give or take. I'm sure there will be .22LR and .22WMR variants at some point too.

I like the idea of the longer barrel (better ballistics) but would like to see it with the original shorter grip. The grip is what makes this revolver more or less "concealable".

I like this one and will probably get one. It looks like a great companion for trout fishing and hiking in the local hills.

I don't think this has a direct counterpart in the S&W catalog. The gun most like a S&W Model 60 is the SP101. Given how light it is supposed to be, it really is screaming out "MAKE ME A .22 WMR or .327 Federal Magnum TRAIL GUN."

Ruger LCR, slick.....

I saw the new LCR .38spl 5 shot.
It's a slick little revolver. It could be a good choice for a entry level gun owner or someone who wants a light weight field/camping DA-SA revolver.
Ruger might consider this format for a .44spl 5 shot. ;)

The LCR already had one of the best DA triggers on the market. Now they have it in a package with sights to let one see what it can do at longer ranges.

Also of note: There is now a Hogue Tamer grip for the LCR w/o finger grooves that allows all three fingers a purchase on the grip. It should be available to retrofit on earlier LCR's as well.

I'm glad it's chambered for .38 special.

This is the variant I've been opining for ruger to make for the past year.

As a CCW country boy a gun like this bridges the gap between SD and the stewpot quite nicely

It's a Kit Gun!

First LCR that had me thinking, "Hmmmmm....", to be honest.

The word BARF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! mean anything. What an ugly damn gun. Ruger use to be guns I liked and thought were good looking guns. I'll stick with my 76 Single Six, 83 Speed Six, 89 Redhawk, 98 GP100 and 99 MKII
