Ruger is expanding the LCR family

I finally got to fondle one today!:D I was very impressed! The 3" version of the LCR feels fantastic. It can't weigh more than a couple ounce more than it's 2" sister, either. The new longer grip felt very good in that hand; for those not intending to CCW it the new grips will probably be very popular. I think I prefer the shorter "Tamer" grips that come on the original but it's my understanding that they will interchange.

Scheel's wanted $479 for it. I didn't buy it today since I wasn't shopping for one (went in looking for an HK P30L while the rebate is going) and since it's the only one I've seen I don't know if that's a good price or not. Also I don't know what is out there for holsters yet. When I got home I did shoot Garrett Industries an e-mail inquiring whether they have a mold gun for it yet.

But I will definitely be buying one eventually! I wonder if it will be out in 9mm and .357 Mag eventually? That would rock.

The 327 covers both, utilizing all of the 357 cylinder length, and is a cartridge more appropriate to the size and weight of the LCR. The 357 serves no purpose, if the platform is so small, that the caliber is too intimidating to shoot. If I was in love with the idea of 9mm in a small revolver, I would look at Charter Arms and skip the moon clips.

I made a new thread, but I have one of these in my possession right now for review. If any of you guys have a question or concern about it I'd be happy to address it VIA this thread of the review next week.

Here is my review of the Charter Arms 9mm PITBULL:

There are a lot of roles that the PITBULL doesn't fill well.

It really isn't a pocket revolver - if someone wanted a pocket revolver in 9mm I would recommend the Ruger LCR in 9mm. I've tried to pocket carry the PITBULL and it is just not realistic.

The PITBULL isn't as quick to reload as a revolver that can be reloaded using a speedloader, or even moon clips. So it is hard to recommend it for self-defense.

It probably has some niche applications like a trail gun for someone who already has a ton of 9mm and doesn't want to start buying different calibers. A backup to a semi-auto chambered in 9mm. A gun to throw in a Bug-out-bag and your other firearm is 9mm.

I've heard cases made for the 9mm revolver in articles and on other forums, the cheap price of 9mm ammo is another factor.

Charter Arms doesn't make a lot of them and that keeps the price higher than what most people would pay for a revolver.
