Setting And Enforcing Your Boundaries In Public

If a troll starts setting his course towards me I start shaking my head in negative as soon as I notice it and they can notice my gesture. If they continue I raise a hand in a "stop" motion . If they continue to close I give a command voice "Stop don't come closer " . If they continue I try to move to the most tactically advantage to me position with lateral or angular movement (never "backpedal" the results have a high probability of dangerous outcome) and begin to think about presentation of what ever weapon I have. If they close after that its condition red but because of this day and age :( and the legal and $ outcome I will not discharge a weapon until last possible moment at less than 6 feet but it will be in position to strike unless there is a weapon presented then its full on go time. That is not optimum but what I choose. BTW I do not go into large cities or use mass transit or crowds these days. It is the way I chose to live and its my choice and I am content with it. I have 60 years of training now it is what it is.

How would you know he is a "troll"? He could be a physician in work clothes who has been gardening.

As has been hashed out rather thoroughly here, you would have no legal right to do that.

For more on that, read Attorney Andrew Branca's book on The Law of Self Defense. Also join the LoSD blog and see some court cases.

Nor is it a good idea with respect to avoiding harm. Read a few things by Mark MacYoung and/or Rory Miller on how to not provoke a conflict that you will regret.
