Slowly getting better,,,

The only thing I might buy at this point is LPP. They aren’t unobtainium anymore but they’re still not around either. They’re doing the whack-a-mole thing: pop up somewhere then vanish as soon as I spot them. 🤣🤬
I’m still stocked up enough I don’t need to buy any but I’m low enough that as soon as they start showing up at a price on par with SPP I’ll grab some.

I found Win Small Pistol primers a few months back at academy. The single boxes were marked around $8 but the bricks were $39.99. I suspect they hadn’t updated the SKUs in a while since the past few years were selling 100 packs only with limits. I decided to be a good person and only bought one (of maybe 3 boxes), because I had a decent stock of primers. I hope another reloader was able to benefit too
This week, they had Win #41 srp on clearance, but still $9 a box. Nice, but I passed there. Still a good sign.

Our Academy Sports doesn't have any primers or powder. They said they can't get them. I think they just don't try. They sell lots of overpriced ammo and it doesn't seem to move very fast. A month ago they put 9mm ammo on sale for $11.00/50 , it was Blazer brass cased ammo. That was gone in two days.
Their target loads are usually $15-25.00/box. That's just to much.
That's the only sale on ammo related items I've seen in Academy Sports in 3 years now. If I didn't buy my charcoal in there I wouldn't go in there at all.

Grabbed (2) bricks yesterday at Academy that were marked 'on clearance' (?)

Admittedly a freak deal, but nice to find,,,,

What a deal! In this day and age, that's fantastic. I'm afraid I would have cleaned them out. As long as your going to use it for loading ammo and not for reselling at a gun show.
Flipping reloading supplies around here is a big thing.

I fell into a deal once a few years ago where a store was getting rid of a lot of their reloading stuff by putting it on sale for $90% off. I bought 6k of Fed GM large pistol match primers for $4.00 a box.
I did clean them out and didn't feel bad about it at all. I bought somewhere around $900.00 worth of stuff for a little over $130.00, then ran like I stole it.

When I was done there was nothing left there except 3 boxes of Ruger 204 dies and some cleaning kits. I even bought 3 of the Deluxe control panels for LNL-AP progressive presses that were marked $189.00 each for $19.00 each. I only wanted one for my press for Christmas that year, but the department manager was pleading with me to take all 3 so I did.
He was afraid he would have to deal with Hornady on sending them back. Apparently, that's not easy to do.
Christmas really came early that year. It came early for our member, Dudedog also because I sent him one of the control panals as a gift , and kept the 3rd one in case I needed parts for mine.

Around here, if I wouldn't have bought all of it, that stuff would have ended up on a table at the next gun show at full retail price or more, so I didn't feel bad at all.
I know the gun show venders have a right to buy it also, but those guys make it hard to find supplies at a decent price around here. They constantly are buying out everything gun related that is on sale at these stores and resell them at the next show.

So, depending on circumstances, I will clean out a "lightning sale" when I happen past one, which isn't very often.

Academy has a number of CCI Primers: small pistol 7.99 per 100, and large pistol magnum 6.99 per 100, and even 11.99/100 ct. percussion caps (4 ct. limit on the percussion caps) with Free Shipping and No Hazmat over $25. I don’t know how they do it (probably occasionally take a loss on primer deals as a business expense to draw in new customers).

Posted in the "Where are components at" thread. $140 for 2K LPP delivered, have to add tax. Seems like a good deal for now.

Unfortunately, component cost is still high locally. I found LPP but they were $13/100, but they are available at least. Things are slowly improving. I wish the cost of powder would start dropping too.

I decided this morning to run over to Sportsman's Warehouse to see what has changed since I was there when they opened. Now it's like a small version of Cabelas. They took over the Field and Stream building when it closed.
I saw the Remington primers there by the sleeve for $5.99. But they only had one sleeve.
I asked the counter man if they lifted the two sleeve/customer rule and he said they did and I have them over here buy the box.

I bought a brick and when he rang them up they came out to $42.10 a brick instead of $59.99. :what: He said they are one brick per customer now.
(My wife is tugging on my shirt behind me,)
I said OH, this lady behind me wants a box of those primers also.

He just laughed and said OK, I'll get another brick.

SWEET!

My new Favorite Store! They had an entire rack full of different powders also. All kinds of reloading equipment.

I really wonder if stores will even care about this stuff anymore. When they were making 50-100% profit then it was worthwhile. Now that they are down to maybe 20%, I don't see them caring so much.

Graf's retail update......as of today......several 8 pounders and many more 1 pounders I have not seen before. Regret I failed to check on price of the 8 pound Dots.

There is a second cabinet to the right of the one shown. It has large selection of Hodgdon and Ramshot powders.....few IMRs like 4350. Varget was missing.
