Sons of Guns

I agree with Bobsav. I also believe that there is also an opportunity for this show to not only display, but discuss cans and cannot do's within the law and to demonstrate mature and responsible gun ownership.

I visited their website today and noticed they increased their prices for their guns!

I bought the Russian Red Classic AK-47 last month for $999.00.... (still have a long time to wait to receive it)...

Now it's $1075.00...

More power to them if people are willing to pay! I was ;-)

I might sell my dignity on a TV show too if it would let me get away with selling Saigas in craptastic bullpup stocks for $1700...

Tried watching another full episode and yet again i couldn't make it through the whole episode, ten minutes into it I turned it off and deleted it from my DVR.

One of these days I swear I will make it through an entire episode, if fo no other reason than to say I did.

On the bright side there are new episodes of Pawn Stars airing, so at least there's something good on tv to watch!:D

I've watched bits and pieces of several episodes, but it's just too contrived and too heavily staged, that even with the type of guns featured, it just doesn't hold my interest.

I went to the Pawn Stars shop in Vegas and was surprisingly underwhelmed. Plus the guy I talked to there was a jerk. But yes, I enjoy the show.

On the other hand I've done business with Red Jacket and am a very happy customer.

Just shows you the power of the TV and how their reality and ours are two different things...

The show makes me throw up a little each time I see a preview. I do watch "Top shot" cause the missus likes it for some reson. I can really vent about how hokey it is when it's on. The other show she likes is "Judge Judy", so "Top Shot" is more than bearable in comparison.

I just seen a few bits and parts of it. The one about the double M16s... Am I really the only one who thinks it would of been easier with say...a .50 or some other more commonly used mg. I mean belt fed rather than mag fed, no overly complicated water cooling crapola. Sure your barrel might be 82 degrees, but how long will it take you to reload both those as opposed to a belt fed?

What did all the haters think about tonight's episode? I know yall watched it lol :)...

I do have a lil' question though... I am a member of an outdoor range here in my state, so I am unfamiliar with inside ranges... What stops his bullets inside his testing range???

thanks!

How are they showing guns and gunowners in a positive light? I can see plenty of things that anti's would use this show to point out negatives, can't you?

They look like redneck hillbilly boobs being unsafe with firearms.

I'll take a stab here, LOL.

instead of a water cooled radiator of sorts why not go with a piston system instead of the direct gas system?

It would of kept it plenty cool and it would of given the gun plenty of cooling time inbetween mag changes since those are going to take a little while.

If they really felt the need for a water cooling system why didnt the tap off of the cooling system of the boat instead of running another pump?

overall this was probably their most normal episode. Of course though the daughter comes in thinking this could be a WHOLE NEW MARKET for them blah blah blah. I also loved when the lady said she wanted a shotgun and she says "Really? Thats a lot of power" or something along those lines.

the daughter needs to disappear.

I did like that .410 SBS the daughter had though, I'll admit that. I dislike the fact it seems as set up as Pawn stars (which I do watch, and enjoy). The girl "popping by" as soon as the other guy is walking out seems a bit odd. Not to mention the LEO knocking outside where a camera man just so happens to be standing at the time..

This show reminds me of "American Hot Rod" that used to be on Discovery, the show about Boyd Coddington's shop. Why is it that every project that walks in the door at Red Jacket has to be finished by Saturday? Every car they did on "American Hot Rod" was a megabuck job that had to be done yesterday. If I was having a custom car built I'd want them to take their time on it. Of course all of these jobs will "open new markets".

I like the show because it has guns, but I find the fabricated stories insult our intelligence.:scrutiny:

Yes, I knew I've seen that somewhere before. I thought it was one of the guns featured on "Future Weapons" that used to come on Military Channel. I belive it was in the "development phase" on the show a couple years back, don't remember if they said it was military version or was available for civilian purchase.

I missed the beginning of the show this week, a water cooled M-16 seems like a solution to a non existant problem.

Unless JSOC is retrofitting a waterborne militia and can't 'import' better suited guns and has to work with what the locals have, which is apparently M-16's.

I'll have to see the full episode.

I didn't understand the M-16 mount. Doesn't the military have dedicated full auto weapons like the SAW and some new replacement?

Would a unit by a few Rube Goldberg gadets rather than using standard stuff?

I also might disagree with the short barreled Saiga for the woman. While Saigas are their thing, I'd tell the nice lady to get an M-4 with a Eotech. Why spend 1500 bucks on a marginal shotgun round? A 223 solution could be much cheaper, higher cap and easier to shoot. With the right round, you don't get overpenetration in houses.

I'm also very interested in kicking folks in the tush because in a totally staged incident, some guy is showing his gal around. Now, I have actually had to yell at someone at work for having his 'gal' 'visiting' in the work space but I didn't have cameras inside and outside. Hey, that would have been more interesting video.

In the last episode (twin mounted m16s), did I miss something in their methodology? Seems they did a 300 round mag dump, checked the temp, then added a cooling system, did a 30 round mag dump and checked the temp again. Obviously it's going to be cooler in the second test just because of less rounds fired. Did I miss something? Most of their projects seem like solutions looking for problems. Each episode seems contrived, obviously staged, always with a time crunch, yet I still keep watching.

No, you pretty much summed it up :)

They do come up with some solutions to non-existant problems but I still like the show for the most part. Unless they reincarnate JMB and hire him they probably aren't going to be breaking any new ground or coming up with something revolutionary. I'd love to get paid to tinker with guns (with no NFA restrictions) and come up with things like they do, regardless of their actual effectiveness compared to what's already available.

Have you seen the "Ax Men" episode where the crazy swamp logger (yes the one with the duct taped BFR), who runs his own camper over with all of his guns and chainsaws inside, invites his friend to come out with him and try out his new swamp buggy? The friend throws the crazy a loaded pistol grip Mossberg from the dock to the boat; the crazy proceeds to wildly fire the gun into the water at the dock, flailing around like a cracked up monkey, pointing it at his friend and the camera guy, swings to the other side of the boat and fires the remaining rounds. All the while screaming, "yahoo!"

How's that for positive. The only thing missing was a jug of moonshine and a pig with a ball gag in it's mouth.

Half the fun of watching this show is pointing out all the BS and bad editing. If all you good people don't really enjoy it, then why has this thread gone on for sixteen pages? ; )

I agree with your assessment - I can't understand how anyone can claim the red jacket show shines a positive light on gun owners.

Because it really is that bad:neener:
