Classic military beauties. Thanks for sharing.

I like guns and knives too, but I now have more knives than I know what to do with. My wife's cousin was a knife fanatic and I inherited his collection when he passed. I have everything from cheap NRA giveaways to CRKTs, Spidercos, Bucks, Benchmades, ZTs and even the Buck 110 he carried in nam. Somehow I need to thin the herd down to just the ones I want to keep but the job is overwhelming. Poor me (lol)!
Everytime I get some together to sell or give to family and friends I usually find a reason why I need to keep most of them. Even when I do thin the collection I just run across new blades that I have to have. I'd say about a dozen or so gets regular use the rest are packed up but I need them.

You are not alone…

Ironically I tell anyone who will listen: do NOT be a collector. Find what you need and use it.

There is more joy to be found in one good knife in the hand than there is in 100 drawer queens.

YMMV

Do a give a way ever once in a while! Lol. I don’t have that many but I know it can be a lot more overwhelming because knives are so small. You can have a hundred+ in a shoebox."

I have given some away, sold some and still have way too many. I have a bunch of folders, a box of small sheath knives, a box of medium sheath knives, and even a box of big old honkin' sheath knives, both sporting and tactical.

I'd like to pick up a Western Bowie W49, and a Boot knife W77/777, but haven't had the chance yet. Sure would look good in single action and lever action pictures.

I should have told the story about the two knives that I pictured. Both blades were forged within 10 miles of my house. The top is pinion bearings from a 2012 Nissan Frontier forge-welded with 1095 steel. I'm not sure if it qualifies as Damascus or not. The handle is moose antler from a small bull that I shot in Newfoundland. The bottom blade is Damascus and was made in a friend of mine's shop. He invited me over to make that knife under his supervision with his equipment. It was a great experience and the project turned out very nicely.

My buddy mentioned that he was going to visit an Amish leather worker to get sheaths made for some other knives that he had made and asked me if I wanted to ride along. Two other guys came who were also metal smiths. One, who I hadn't met but lives within walking distance of my house, won an episode of Forged in Fire (The Landsknecht Sword). We picked the other guy up at his house and toured his 2 building shop. He collects all kind of antique machinery and we spent over an hour checking out his stuff before we headed north. The Amish leather shop was another step back in time. He made that sheath in about 20 minutes on a peddle powered sewing machine. All in all an amazing day with some talented craftsmen.

I'm going to have to get a nicer pistol if I'm going to hang with you guys.

Couple carry Rugers, the SP101 is a back pocket pistol. The Kershaw folders are my favorite watch pocket carry folder. The large one still has a little checkering on the scales, but the smaller Kershaw checkering is gone, and a new small one. I bought about a dozen of the smaller knifes and gave a few to my boys, I’ve lost a couple but have 3 new ones in reserve. Kershaw stopped making them probably 30 years ago.

Couple more nice ones. Really like the two top knives.
I’ll dig out a couple more combinations after the sun comes up and head to the shop.

My Ruger Redhawk that was my Dad's with a knife and case* my Dad made in the early 1970's.
The blade is 440C stainless steel, the bolster and guard S/S, and the handle is layered Formica.
I think they belong together!

It has been over 30 years since Dad passed...........
Still miss him!

*Jussi pronounced U-See is Finnish for Johnny.
Dad worked with a bunch of kind Finlanders back in the day building custom cabinetry in Duluth, MN.
