The Inform/Don't Inform Debate Reversed.

I say obey the law. In Ohio, we're required. If not required, I wouldn't do it, nor would I inform that I had a CCW if I weren't carrying (which is NOT required by the law).

If you are asked, yes. If you are about to be searched or asked to step out of the car, yes. If the gun is in the glove box where you're registration is, yes. If it MIGHT be visible (in your waistband, for example) yes. If it's properly concealed and it isn't an issue, don't make it one.

Because if I were a cop i would want to know.

When a cop puklls up to a light he or she has no idea what they are walking into. If I don't inform the officer and he or she sees the bulge in my pocket, what are they supposed to think? Here is a person who seems to have a gun in his pocket. Is he a good guy or a bad guy? Is he going to try and kill me or is it lawful for him to carry? Am I in danger?

I don't want the cop thinking that. I want the cop to know that I mean no harm to anyone. I have a clean record and they have no reason to fear me. I am not trying to hide anything.

I have no interest in playng John Wayne or curbside lawyer to a cop who is just doing their job and trying to get home to their family.

If a cop "beefs" me about having a gun, that is a matter I will take up with the CLEO in the morning.

Just my opinion, worth what you paid for it.
I
