Howdy, folks. Now, since there aren't a lot of LEOs on THR, everyone can answer for the LEOs in the place where they live (if they know). What do you carry as your primary sidearm, your "heavy weapon" and BUG (if you have a BUG)? Do you get to choose or is it issued to you?
I'm not an LEO, but in Oceanside, every officer I've seen in Oceanside, CA has a Glock (unknown model #/caliber) on their hip.
In my hometown where I grew up, the police/sheriff's deputies carry a gun approved by the chief of police/sheriff on their hips and either an M16/AR, Lever action 30-30 of some kind, or a pump shotgun of some kind. If they didn't have a sidearm, they'd be issued a .357 revolver (smith and wesson no clue on model). BUGs are optional and not issued.
