It really depends upon the individual. I started our son at age six with a .22 single shot. By the time he was nine he had fired just about everything I have. He always begged to shoot my Smith 29: I declined! Lost my place to shoot when he was ten and later he wasn’t all that interested. By the time he regained interest things had changed to a point that I wasn’t comfortable having him handle weapons. It amazes me how kids can be far more responsible and mature at age ten than they are at age fifteen!
